Ivory dress = ivory cake?

I am getting ready to have a meeting with my baker to go over the final details of my wedding cake. I am trying to decide what I should do about the color of the cake. My wedding colors are brown, green, and orange. My dress is ivory, as well as the flower girl dresses and the aisle runner. Should I do my cake in ivory/cream color or would white be ok? There will also be a colored ribbon (probably brown) on the bottom of each section. Do you think if I went with ivory frosting a brown ribbon would be ok?

You know, I think a brown ribbon would look good with either ivory or white cake. Depends on the shade of brown, really. But you'll see what shade works best  on your cake; it's a good neutral color, and you can make it pop off a white cake or an ivory  one--it would most likely pop more against the white, in that it would contrast against a cool white, since many browns are warm toned, but you can make it pop from an ivory, too. Asking the baker for his/her input is a good idea.

No one's going to notice that your dress is ivory and your cake is white.  Everyone just likes to eat cake.  And cakes sort of look off-white to me anyways.  I wouldn't stress that small of a detail, just do what you'd like with the details.

I really don't think it matters.  No one will expect your dress to match the cake you know?   Maybe ask the baker, but I'm sure it doesn't matter either way.

I had an ivory dress and the frosting on my cake was white.  I honestly never even thought about ivory frosting.

Ivory dress doesn't necessarily mean ivory cake!

If your colors are brown, green and orange, here's what google had to offer :)

Maybe make the flavors like your colors, chocolate, orange, and pistachio or something like that :)

I asked my baker the same thing and she felt (and I agree) that a white cake generally looks better - unless you have some specific look in mind.  So despite my ivory dress we all agreed on a white cake.  no need to get that matchy matchy.

Nobody will care if your cake matches your dress, and you can have your cake (or dress) any color you want.  Do what you want to do and don't worry about matching.

i would just go wtih whatever you think looks better on the cake, no need to match it to your dress.
