Re: Confessions.

  • edited December 2011
I had a really good confession the other day and now I can't remember it.

One of the students here look almost exactly like the guy I had a huuuuuge crush on in middle school. It feels so wrong, but every time he comes in the library I feel transported back about 15 years. And he spends a lot of time in the library!

I bought a GIANT (looks like a cupcake giant) peanut butter cup when I was in Austin.  It was meant to last the whole week, I melted it yesterday in the microwave and ate the whole thing.I am ashamed (okay, not really, that thing was DELICIOUS).

I think weight loss surgeries, in GENERAL,  are for lazy people who don't want to really try hard enough to lose weight.
  • edited December 2011
Mandy where did that come from?  I was listening to Kiss FM yesterday (I think it was) and this lady lost 100 pounds or 200 pounds (I can't remember which) and they were like, "Oh, congratulations!  How'd you do it?" and she said, "Gastric bypass, baby!!" and I got really disappointed.  I understand that sometimes people need a jump start, but whatever happened to getting off the couch and watching what you put in your mouth?

DH has to work on Thanksgiving, and I dont want to go to his dads side of the families Thanksgiving by myself. They are wayyy to snooty and they make me feel uncomfortable.

I had gastric bypass surgery 5 1/2 years ago. My surgeon required a psychological screening to make sure that each patient fully understood the implications. But yes, there are a lot of surgeons who want to make a quick buck and a lot of people who want a quick fix. I personally did a LOT of research to choose the right procedure and the right surgeon. I knew going in that, even with the surgery, I would struggle with weight every day of my life. I considered it to be a tool to make the struggle a little easier, and I still think of it that way.

I know a couple who just had lap band surgery and it just annoyed me.  I have another friend who has lost 100lbs or probably more by now in the past year and a half from diet and exercise.

My confession:  after having a really good attitude about Thanksgiving and doing all this stuff (grown up furniture, etc), I am now to the point where I want to run away like they did in "Four Christmases".  I hate that I want to do that.  I hate that those two people intimidate me more than anyone else in my life.  Confession #2:  after doing all the diets that I've done, I would consider weight loss surgery.  And I really don't care if some think I'm lazy.

Oh, and I did get off the couch and watch what I put in my mouth. I exercised, I dieted, and I never lost more than 20 pounds. And when you're 4'11" and weigh 250+, 20 pounds just isn't enough. Believe what you want about lazy fat people, but sometimes surgery is the only thing that will make a difference.

Please note that I used the phrase "in general" for a reason. :)

Finally I have remembered some to share!! -I love Big Bang Theory. -If you don't support the couple, I don't think you should go to the wedding. -I ate 12 mini turtles (caramel, chocolate and pecans) over Sunday and Monday due to stress.  I have a grip on it now, I think.

Shortgirl, If you need some more support, we still have some Halloween candy--Snickers, Reese's.  :-)

My Confession:  I just wrote a rather long response to the UNT referendum post and then promptly deleted it before I hit "post now."  I think it is better that way.

Shortgirl, If you need some more support, we still have some Halloween candy--Snickers, Reese's. :-) Very tempting!  They would be gone in a flash with wrappers floating in the air on the way to the ground, LOL.Keep those away from me please!!

Yes, I know you said "in general", and as I said, there are a lot of people looking for a quick fix. But I think that in general, people who have weight loss surgery are trying to live a healthier life, and that is not something to be annoyed by. I don't think that the majority of people who choose to go that route are doing so because they think they'll be able to never exercise and spend all day eating pizza and be skinny. It's a very difficult decision to choose major surgery when you know that people will think you're just taking the easy way out.

Um...this is a confessions post, and that's my confession.  I'm sorry you're taking it personally -- if it works for you then great.  These PARTICULAR people that annoyed me, I have known for a while and I know they are too lazy to spend a year or more losing the kind of weight they needed to lose.

Then you should have said that those people annoyed you rather than making generalizations.

I am SO hungry.  I really want to stop at Taco Bell on the way home and get a couple of those cheesy gorditas.  Oh temptation, how I loathe thee.

I'm perfectly allowed to be annoyed by it "in general."  Don't post a confessions post if you don't want to hear what people might say.

Making broad, sweeping judgements about entire groups of people is never ok to me.

Now I'm wondering what Tiffany had to say about the UNT thing.Banana, I'm sorry if my comment offended you.  I have to say you look great and I'm glad the surgery worked for you.My cousin has tried lap band twice and it has yet to work for her.  Though, these surgeries were paid for by her family and I don't think she did them for the right reason or went into them in the right frame of mind to even know how to eat healthy or exercise.

I'm definitely not a regular poster but I lurk some-what regularly. There are some girls that post that I don't even bother reading because all of their previous posts have annoyed me...

Haha, Mariah... well I guess I could post it on confessions instead, huh?I actually think that gay couples should be able to do what they want.  What I'm tired of is having it shoved down my throat.  This whole idea of "gay community" just seems like a great big show to get attention, IMO.  I know some gay couples and they are as normal as you and me.  If the individuals in these communities want to be treated like everyone else, they should act like everyone else.Ok .. I'm done.  **dodging flying snickers and reese's and other various foods being thrown at me**

Tiffany -- I know what you mean.  One of my best (gay) friends has often said to me, "gay people annoy the crap outta me."  I know what you're trying to say.
  • edited December 2011
Oh, I forgot to answer the question you asked, I think it is ridiculous to have a gay homecoming king and queen.  That is all.
