Should I have a Viennese Hour?

I have the option to add a Viennese hour to my reception for $10pp. At 200 guests and tax it will be over $2,000 but i'm trying to decide if its worth it. I think the desserts are aweseom(see menu below) but don't want to take away from the band and fun dancing part of the night. Has anyone had one? What time did it occur? Would you do it again? If you were a guest would you like this option? Any feedback or comments you could provide on this would be helpful!

It seems a bit excessive to me. It also seems like it would create more of a congestion/ distraction to the party than anything. imagine a station with a line of 200 people waiting to get "Homemade Zeppoli Station Prepared Before Your Guests Coffee, Tea, Brewed Decaffeinated Coffee Espresso and Cappuccino"

Um.. yeah, if you wanted something like this, consider a self-service chocolate fountain with dipping fruits, marshmellows, etc (and have this INSTEAD of appitizers or snacks) and a self-service station for coffee, tea and hot-chocolate. The line (and the party) would flow more smoothly. You would probably save tons of $$$ that way too.

Thanks, We are still having an elaborate cocktail hour and full formal dinner, wedding cake, etc but Viennese is a nice extra that is common at traditional Italian weddings. The room that they do it in is large and there are plenty of stations so there shouldn't be lines for our guests. I just don't know if having one will help to give the wedding a "Wow" factor of if it will take away from the dancing. Has anyone been to a wedding with one before? I haven't.

I think it is nice but why don't you see if you could cut down by just having something like the gelato station.. or the zeppoles (I love zeppoles! and I think it would be a hit)
The chocolate fountain is messy and so overdone that I think it's starting to be tacky. I would do one "wow" dessert- this way you get the effect but you don't have to spend 2k. How about a cannoli filling station?
I am doing passed desserts in addition to my cake- creme brulee (torched for our guests) and a warm apple cranberry crisp (Oct wedding). It was supposed to be three passed desserts but I took our 3rd (mini chocolate cherry milkshakes) and am moving it up to be served at our slider bar instead.
I think extra dessert always contributes to the "wow" factor that you want at weddings.

I'm also from the NY/NJ area so I've been to lots of weddings with them. They've never had that "Wow" factor for me, but I've seen so many and I'm not big on desserts. That said, if we had had the extra $4k it would have cost us, I would have added the Venetian hour just to have even more time with our guests. We had a 5-hour event with the cocktail hour and it flew by. .

Honestly, while it sounds good, your guests won't have room for it so most will go to waste. Even with an elaborate cocktail hour, the dinner itself will go to waste.

Spend the 2k on either fireworks or a morning after brunch.
