Costs for Bridesmaids

I was shocked when I saw the price of bridesmaid dresses! I have selected a dress that we could get that would work with my variety of BMs (dept store wouldn't work) and the dress is under $200. I chose to purchase shoes and jewelry to help offset the cost, but I'm afraid the cost may be too much for 2 of the girls.
What should I do? My FI and I are having to pay for the whole wedding, so budget is tight, but I don't want someone to not be in my wedding because of cost that I am forcing on them.

We got our bridesmaid dresses from the designer Eden Bridal and they were $100 each.  You might see if there are any you like and what shops carry them around here.

There are definitely much better deals out there than $200.

I had the same initial shell shock when it came to bridesmaid dresses. Have you tried eBay? I LOVE eBay!

I've found a few dresses that I loved that were BM dresses for about $20-$30.

It actually "HOW MUCH?" momment for me came from the FG dresses. The ones I fell in LOVE with were $350. I was having three flower girls and they all were from one family. We ended up finding the FG outfits on eBay for about 90% off and BRAND NEW!

For my wedding, the bridesmaids/I picked dresses that were a little more expensive then I wanted them to spend so I paid for everything over a set price point.

If you think it may be too much for a couple of your girls, I would probably speak with them to see if they are ok.  If not, then I would help them out so that they can be a part of your day.  I know that will probably be hard since budgets are tight, but hopefully you can move a couple of things around to make it work.

Yeah I tried other websites, but I have some plus size girls and then I need some with extra length, ect... so online options didn't seem to work for me.
If I pay for the girls who can't afford it, would it be rude to not tell the other BM's? I don't want to show favorites or anything, but there's no way I can buy all 6 dresses!

Most bridesmaids will pay for their own dress themselves. If they can not afford it, they should talk to you about it. If you are worried about the price, look around. I'm not sure when your wedding is, but for an example, David's Bridal, carries prom dresses. Prom dresses can be cheaper!

Can I ask what the dress you want look like? Are you set on a dress?? If not you can give them a color and a style and ask them to find one. I got lucky. We are going to India to get the Saris (I'm bridezilla and making them wear the same thing) for $60. They are all happy with the costs. They will buy their own shoes, but I will buy the jewerly.

I ordered mine from Pearl's Place and it was much cheaper (based on the quotes I got).  No tax and shipping was $15 total.  I paid for all of the dresses myself, so price was a big deal for me so I tried to keep the costs down for my sake.  I also had to get shoes and jewelry as is the custom for us...

I think if the girls have an issue with the cost, they would come to you and IMO, I would keep it between you and her.  If I were a BM paying for my own and found out that another BM got her dress paid for, I would be a little upset.  I would understand that some people have limitations, but I would still be a little irritated.
