AW: Bridals! (ridiculously pic heavy)

These were taken at the Belle Nora mansion on Garland Road on White Rock Lake. It is where my parents got married, but is now a private residence. We had no idea who owned it, but it turned out one of my dad's high school friends knew a guy who knew a guy who bought it, and he turned out to be one of the NICEST guys. He let us all over the property and in all the bedrooms.
The first one is my canvas.
And the bench that I'm sitting on outside was where my parents took their last picture before they got in their getaway car.

  • Ahhh...I love them! The location is so stinking sweet and sentimental, it's awesome!

Ok, now I have to ask some random almost dress-twin questions. Did you get the cafe colored slip or regular ivory (this is just me being nosy and wondering how mine will look in pics)? Also, did you have your slip altered in the back so that the lace lays on its own...or is it just bustled? On the pic of you in the mirror, I just couldn't figure it out.

Btw, I kinda have dress neckline envy! Haha. Your open neckline is so much prettier than my v-neck. Jealous! Plusalso, you can't even tell that it had that crazy applique before (which is the ONLY reason I didn't get your dress)! Dang.

My dress just came in white or ivory, and I don't know that there was a slip option. The entire dress is ivory (and it all looks the same in person).
And my slip wasn't altered at all... but the bustle is actually going to be french for the slip and american for the overlay. The slip is so thin that the fact that it is french isn't even noticable, it just keeps it simple to bustle one under and one over.
And did you notice the applique IN MY HAIR??? :) That cost me 1.99 worth of a plastic comb and some hot glue.
Becky actually didn't write down to remove the applique, and when I got there to pick it up she said she didn't write it down in case I changed my mind and I was like, nope, take it off. And it took her about one minute to remove it... it was barely tacked on.
I can't wait to see yours! When are your bridals??

</div><div>Aah, ok. I do remember when I ordered mine they had told me that they JUST started offering cafe (it's just a teeny bit darker). I'm just wondering if you'll even be able to notice a difference at all. I'm doing the french underneath and american on top bustle as well! I figured, Becky knows what she's doing so if she's says this is best, it must be best. Haha.</div><div>
</div><div>Ok, so I had to go back and check out the applique in your hair, and it looks awesome! That is so crazy crafty. I love it. In the first few pics I actually thought you were wearing a tiny veil, but I went back and looked and realized it was just the sunlight! </div><div>
</div><div>I'm not sure when mine will be yet, probably sometime in August (ugh), but I should be taking my dress home on July 28th! I might have to make my mom take a few pics so I can AW it up. :)

Oh.em.gee.  These are exquisite.  Everything is beautiful:  your dress, your hair, your makeup (where did you get that done?), your hairpiece, your bouquet--it's all just stunning.  And who is your photographer again?  I love the sentiment of the location also. Everything is just so lovely!

ETA:  And you should totally make those hair combs and sell them on Etsy.

My hair and makeup was done by Nicole Cano, who is just getting started in weddings, but I went to see her yesterday for my cut and color and she said she was going to start her ads with the Knot next week and she was super excited. She's great, and affordable, and she doesn't charge to travel within Dallas area.
    My photographer is Leslie Spurlock.

Umm and the applique from my dress was just one huge chunk of lace flowers that I cut in half and glued on the comb. There was zero creativity that went into it! I mostly didn't want the applique on my dress!

Oh so what is on your comb came from your dress?  That's great!  Was it at the waist or something?

You know, I picked my MUA Kristin, simply based on the fact that the two brides I had seen her do on TK both looked gorgeous and exactly how I wanted to look.  I would say Nicole is off to a great start!
  • Stephie - No, it was at the shoulder, and I hated it from the moment I tried the dress on. Becky was able to remove it easily (it was just tacked on), and it came off in one piece. I cut that piece in half (carefully) and then glued it to a comb. So it matches my dress and was FREE.
I had the most difficult time deciding on hair piece/ veil. I decided not to wear a veil after trying on a zillion at Becky's. It just all looked so busy with my sleeves.
Here's a close up picture of the applique on the dress:

Oh and Becky also told me that she was so glad I took it off, and I agree.
  • Oh wow, good for you for having such a good eye.  I agree it's not needed and looks so much better in your hair!  And even though I am a veil fan, I agree your hair is perfect for your dress.  *sigh* I am so excited to see your wedding!
  • You look amazing!
  • These are so beautiful, thank you for sharing!  You are absolutely stunning.  I really love your dress choice... just beautiful on you.

Bella Nora -- bought buy a guy for his daughter for her birthday (16th birthday, I think).   Yep, that teenager now owns one of the nicest homes the area has to offer.  She is excited to, "have, like, lots of parties!" per her interview on the news.  It made my tummy hurt. :-/  The place is far to exquisite and nostalgic for a kegger.
