both would be 3 tiers and round with purple roses and maybe an assortment ofother purple flowers

Re: need help picking a cake

  • I feel the first cake has a more modern feel while th second one gives off a more romantic feel.  Personally, I prefer cake one.  Just a personal decision you have to make....they are both beautifu!
  • Those are some very different cakes!  If the style for your other choices (flowers, dress, venue, etc) are tending to the modern and angular and full of very stark color contrasts, I'd go for the first one.  If you're tending to the softer, more romantic, rounded lines look with less sharp color palette, I'd go for the second.  I personally am the latter type and think the second one is infinitely more pleasing to the eye, but I recognize the first one is a well-structured cake.  It's just not my personal style.  But if I was a guest at your wedding, I'd be more impressed by a cake that fits in with the overall style of your wedding than with a cake I myself liked but that didn't fit in with your wedding.

As a guest I would only care if the cake tasted amazing.  The look of the cake could be beautiful but if it tastes like crap then what is the point.

OP, I like both cakes and if I had to choose I would pick the square one just because it drew my eye to it more.

Just make sure that whatever you pick the cake tastes amazing becasue your guests will look at your cake once but will remember if it tasted like cardboard for years.
