Tapas dinner

We want to have a tapas style dinner with smaller portions like sliders, roulades and lamb lollipops. Although its enough to fill up on definitely, the caterer is doing 125 of each for 100 guest wedding. So my concern is how to handle if guests think they should be taking 34 of each thing at the food stations? Id like everyone to at least have a chance at trying all of the food. Thanks!

There really isn't a way to do this politely.  The servers at the station will likely be putting each item on a guest's plate, but if someone says give me another one of those, you can't really have them say "I'm sorry, but you are only allowed one" (you could, but bad idea).

If you have a lot of options, which you should if it's tapas style, people will take smaller portions of each so they can try more things, but there may be items that some people just don't care for, so they're going to get another slider and skip the lamb lollipops.
  • Don't worry about this.  For every person who would love seconds on the lamb lollipops, there'll be another who's just not into lamb.  I personally was worried about the same exact thing as I planned my wedding (our seared scallop station only provided two scallops per guest and I was terrified of running out), but it really does all turn out okay.   There might be more popular items that eventually run out, but as long as you choose a wide variety of tasty options you'll be fine.
  • This sounds like most cocktail parties I've been to before the actual sitdown dinner.  How many different appetizers are you doing?  For me, it might be ok.  But my FI would probably be starving.  If he could only have 1 appetizer from say 10 stations, we'd be cutting out early and hitting the late night pizza parlor.
  • They won't really be appetizer sized portions, the sliders will be like 1/2 hamburger size and we're having a pasta dish too. As a follow up: has anyone been to a reception like this? There won't be a formal sit down dinner time, more like a cocktail party with dancing and dinner going on together.
