Chrysler Museum Hampton Roads for Ceremony and Reception...is it worth the money they're asking?

I got the ok from my fiancee to book this venue, he is currently overseas and saw pics and really likes it.  It's just i'm already having buyer's remorse and I haven't even put down a deposit yet. I LOVE the venue it's truly beautiful and there are people lined up already to book the venue if I dont but I wanted to get other people's opinion of someone who has  been to a wedding there. It's beautiful and I can imagine how my wedding would be, has anyone been to a  wedding here and is it worth the >3k ?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Do they have contact information from previous brides who had their wedding there you could call? Kinda like recommendations for a resume?

That's a really good idea, I will ask about that. I might end up going with it because i'm about give up hope on a venue here and it is a beautiful spot.

I went to an evening wedding there, and it was lovely.  One plus is that because it's such a grand and beautiful space, you can keep the decor pretty minimal, which might help offset some of the rental cost.

yeahi was thinking about that. i figured i get good lighting, throw in a flameless candle with some peacock feathers and call it a day. it doesn't sound that great but i think it might work and it's simple enough. i jus thave to be really thrifty with everything else since that and catering will be about ten grand lol.

    weddings, they are pricey!

If you're really unsure and have some time until you definitely have to book the museum, I would definitely drive around and look at some other places.  If nothing measures up to the Chrysler, maybe you'll feel more comfortable with your decision :)

I can't even imagine how hard it would be to choose a venue without your FI there to see it with you.  And it is hard to be in your situation, because the venues book up so far in advance.  But I'm sure he trusts your judgment!  Hopefully he'll be back in time to help with the other big decisions :(

It took me forever to find a venue in Hampton Roads that "fit" and I feel like I've looked at everything!  I have been to an event at the Chrysler and have seen many pictures of weddings there but it was just too fancy for us.  It is a BEAUTIFUL venue though, and if you are looking for that really elegant high class feel, that's definitely it.

They also exclusively cater with Cuisine & Company- one of the best in the area.  They've done meals for the Bushes, Condoleeza Rice and the mayor of Norfolk's daughter- supposedly their food is amazing (we're meeting with them for another venue actually).

If elegant is what you're looking for- the Chrysler is definitely a great choice.  A friend of mine is a Navy wife and chose the Chrysler without her FI last year.  Great decision and they both loved it.  I even thought about having a bridal photography session there.

Here's a pic I found of the Chrysler set up for a wedding with relatively simple tables & centerpieces, and awesome lighting:  http://weddingsbymichelle.files.wordpress.com/2008/06/dsc_0316.jpg

Seriously, I don't think many who have been to a wedding there would tell you to look elsewhere.  Goodluck and congrats :)

    Hi Photogbride!

Thank you for the pictures I really appreciate it :) Luckily, I didn't have to choose between price and setting because the half moone opened up the EXACT day I needed! I'm so excited!!

    Thanks guys for your advice!
