AlterationsHELP!

I purchased my dresses (I got two! Fun one for reception!) from David's Bridal and they're telling me I need to start alterations in the next couple weeks for my September wedding. My question is, has anyone had their dress altered at David's Bridal in Frisco??? I've heard not to use them and I don't know what I should do. Does anyone have recommendations for a seamstress in the Plano area??? Any advice??

I would say if you've heard not to use them, definitely don't use them unless you are willing to take that risk.  That's something you would need to decide for yourself if it's worth the risk or not.

I know you specifically requested someone in the Plano area, but I'll throw it out there that many TK brides here use(d) Becky Fowler in Irving as she is wonderful and does quality work at a great price.  Maybe Sew is another good option.  I don't know anyone right off hand in Plano, though.  GL!

My dress is with Becky Fowler right now and I second her!

I have heard that David's Bridal and other places that sell dresses tend to be WAY overpriced when it comes to alterations. I haven't heard anything about the quality.

The boutique I bought my dress from recommends Leighanna with Maybe Sew (in Carrollton) but everyone here raves about Becky Fowler, so I went to her. She did a fantastic job and is super reasonably priced.

I had a bridesmaids dress altered at DB Frisco in 2009, and they were okay. Overpriced for what they did (it was just a hem), so I would definitely ditto the Becky Fowler rec.

Well I called and made an appointment with Becky!  My only hesitation is that I want to make both dresses into a sweetheart neckline, and she said she only does "scrunching", that she won't actually cut the neckline.  Hmmmmmm.....

She gave me the name and number of someone that does, but now I'm just confused!!!

One of the great things about Becky is that she won't promise you work she can't do.  If she gave you the number of someone who can do a sweetheart neckline, I think you should call that person.  Becky would not recommend someone who wasn't awesome!
