Cake

I was thinking about using cupcakes rather than a traditional cake, is this tacky?  I'd just rather have several different flavors & I'm not having a dessert buffet should some of my guests not like the cake flavor I've chosen...

    I don't think that is tacky at all. We would love to do the same thing to give people options. We just have to find a good cupcake baker. We tried one & was thoroughly disappointed. The only flavor we ended up liking was the chocolate cupcake.

    I agree-not at all tacky.

    However, this shouldn't necessarily prevent you from still having a "cake cutting"... I suggest slicing a cupcake in half with the biggest knife/sword you can find ;)

    you could do a small cake just for cutting...

    I don't know what part of VA your from, but the Carolina Cupcakery does a really good job and they have a few really cute tiered cupcake stands. At the very top tier, they do a small cake so you can still have a cake topper. They're in Chesapeake and Norfolk... the BEST cupcakes I've ever tasted.
