Here are my vendor reviews (based on the info I know at the time). Hair and Make up: Beauty Bar. A+ They were very willing to open up early for my bridal party (wedding was the Sunday before Labor Day) and were very easy to work with. I absolutely loved my hair and make up and my bridesmaids all looked great too. They had a room for us to sit in and enjoy the brunch before our hair and makeup. It was a very relaxing experience. Bridal/Bridesmaid's Gowns: Nancy's Bridal A. They are located in Indianapolis, close to where I attend law school. Very easy to work with and the alterations were amazing and the dress fit so well. Florist. Keith Brooks. A++++++ He does AMAZING work and although he is a bit pricy, he sent us a 10 page list of suggestions and things he was able to do for us with NO obligation to chose any of it. There was no pressure to buy or any minimum amount spent. I completely trusted him and his crew to set up the reception and ceremony flowers and it turned out beautiful! He even added a few additional items that we did not ask for which were very nice additions. DJ. Brian Cahill of Ultimate Nights. A+++++++ Brian was awesome and our reception ran great. Everyone commented on the great songs and his ability to keep the dance floor full. He even asked me a couple of times about the timeline and suggestions he had. He was very professional and kept the crowd entertained. He even was willing to do a last minute addition of providing sound for our ceremony. Brian had an itinerary for us and called a week in advance to go over the schedule and to check on how to pronounce names. I would highly highly reccomend Ultimate Nights. Cake. Thrush's. A They were great to work with and very reasonably priced. The cake was gorgeous. The only reason I am not giving them an A+ is because we didn't work with them much at all. They showed up and delivered and their cake sampling was great too. They give you a full 7 in cake sample of each flavor you ask for! Everyone loved the cake! Officiant. Tom Caldwell of Main Street Church. A++++++++ Tom was my youth pastor in high school and delivered a very powerful message for our outdoor ceremony that spoke words on marriage but also a very meaningful message about God's plan for marriage. He was able to connect with the various age groups present and his words were full of wisdom and encouragement. Photographer. Grand Lubell. A+++++++++ I have yet to see the pictures but Stevie, Chris, and their assistant worked their tails off all day. Stevie even showed up to the salon the day of the wedding and there was a point in the evening where they wanted outdoor shots and they were getting eaten alive by mosquitos. I am SO excited to see the photos and was amazed by their creativity. I realize they are a bit pricy but we chose to have awesome pictures and not have a videographer. Birmingham Limo. A++++++ They were great to work with and we provided a shuttle service to and from the ceremony/reception. We ended up running a bit over time and it was no problem at all. The limo driver allowed my friend (who I had assigned to be incharge) of the limo tasks to sign for me for additional time and he made sure all of the guests made it home. I would totally use their limo service again. Zin Quartet. A+ They played beautifully and were very easy to work with. I did not give them an A++++ only because I only heard the music briefly. I missed their playing at the cocktail hour as I was out taking pictures. However, I have only heard good things and they played the songs beautifully. I wish I could have had more time to enjoy their music instead of being nervous about walking down the aisle. Maumee Bay Resort. B The food was very good (and plentiful) but the contact with the wedding coordinator was lacking. The service and event staff were very friendly and easy to work with. My only complaint was with their wedding coordinator/contact person. She was not able to give us an itemized list until two weeks before the wedding and we had requested it several months earlier. I thought this was odd because it is hard to make final decisions so close to the wedding date. We would call and ask questionsand it was take a long time for a response. However, if the contact person needed something, she would expect us to return forms/payments/etc immediately. I just felt a bit pushed around in this process. The venue itself was beautiful and linens and set up turned out great. Every waitstaff was very friendly and they had special waitstaff specifically serving the bride and groom food and beverages. The array of food and alcohol options provides the ability to go with a higher or lower price plan depending on your budget. My only other complaint was the rental fee for the ceremony and reception. I had assumed it went toward your final payment but it does not. It is a rental charge. For a place such as Maumee Bay, there should NOT be this high of charge. I am certain they make enough money elsewhere to cover this charge. Overall, I loved the venue and the weather was amazing. The balcony over the lake provided a magical and scenic view and our guests only had to find one location. I just wish I would have had better communication with the wedding event staff.
