We had a family friend be our DJ for the reception.

We had Millennius Strings for our string trio at the ceremony and they were fabulous!  I would definitely recommend them!

$ 200.00 Dollar DJ service. He seem to really be on top of eveything -- has a website and it was only 50.00 to hold our spot.

For the ceremony, we burned everything to CD and the zoo AV guy played it and managed it for us for the ceremony.  However, the edited version we had made through windows movie maker, so it was actually a DVD not a CD.  It wouldn't work so they used the other CD we had.  Not one song was right for the ceremony and we didnt even get a song for the wine ceremony.  So they kinda dropped the ball...but not totally their fault.

For the reception we used Terry with DJ Tommy Ray.  He was really good especially since there was a medical emergency during the reception and EMS had to be called out and everything.  He got us right back on track and kept things going smoothly.

We are using Gregg Aranda for the ceremony, cocktail/dinner music and then Johnny Rocker and the Hitmen for the rest of the ceremony.

We had a friend play the piano for the ceremony.

For the reception, I used Mr. Music DJ (my former HS English teacher!).  He was fantastic!  Tons of people were out dancing all night long and he isn't intrusive, annoying, or cheesy.

I am using my uncle to play piano at the ceremony.

Ultimate Nights DJ is doing the reception.  They did my sisters wedding and the owner (Brian Cahill) who we have for our reception also was probably the best wedding DJ I have heard.

The church music director played the piano and we had a soloist come in to sing as well for the ceremony.

Reception was DJ'd by Craig from the Class Act and he was AWESOME!

The pastor's wife will be playing the music for the ceremony and my mom's friend's uncle/cousin/some other random family member will be DJing the reception (he does it professionally, but I just never caught his name).

$200 DJ Service? I've never heard of this..... I'm assuming its ..$200....??? How many hours? That sounds amazing!! What's the catch??

OK... and dumb question -- do they post a big tacky banner or neon lights advertising the company? I know it sounds stupid and picky but we'd like to avoid that in a DJ if possible...

we are using first class dj our of willard ohio  http://www.firstclassdj.org he is so nice and has different packages all the way from $200 for a DIY system all the way up to a $795 system. We went with the $795 package and added the uplighting plus he will be doing the outdoor ceremony as well. He will have lapel mics for us to use so everyone will be able to hear us. We just seemed to click with him and what he had to offer. Hope this helps :)

I'm having Swingmania play for the reception. They have everywhere from a trio to a full 17 piece orchestra.  We are having a 9 piece band made up of their members.  They are also providing a trio for the cocktail hour and we are considering having their pianist play the ceremony.

I think his website says it's $200 for 4 hours, and then $25/hour after that.  VERY good pricing!!  His setup is very simple, but it works!! No banner or neon lights, just his computer / mixer / etc, some speakers and a simple (optional) lighting setup.  Oh, and of course the wireless mic for things like toasts/speeches, or - in the case of the party I was at over the weekend - a rousing rendition of "I'm on a boat!" by one of the guests.  LOL!! :) :)

I sent him an eMail last night so we'll see what he says. I know some of the DJs we've been contacting have different packages based on the number of guests you are expecting (I guess more guests = more DJ's/help & more speakers...?). We are expecting maybe 250+ people at our wedding so I'll have to see if that would impact anything..... ?

bsharp --- did you meet him or anything before you signed the contact and put the $ down?

I have not met him personally -- but it was only 50$ to hold my date and i have emailed him probably 8 times since i booked him. He always gets back with me within the day. So that has been really reliable. His website isnt super awesome or anything but for 200 dollars it seems pretty worthwile to me.

I called 4 other djs that wanted upwards of 700 dollars for DJ service. and that just is not in my budget. Plus my venue is smaller so I really kind of needed someone with less equipment.

i put my list of music together and i was worried that i had a few obscure things he may not have, HE EMAILED ME BACK RIGHT AWAY WITH "I have every single one of those songs" - we are all set.
