Invitations

I'm just wondering how everyone has done their invites.  Did you design them yourself?  Did you use a format or template?  Did you use a certain website or company?

I've started working on ours and it just hasn't been fun so far.

I got mine custom made (for about the same price as we would have paid for pre-made on WeddingPaperDivas.com).  She designed them, but then I had to put all the pieces together because it saved a TON of money doing it this way.  It was kind of a pain assembling them, but I couldn't have been happier with how they turned out!

I bought some "kits" at hobby lobby when they did their half off all wedding stuff sale. I did the wording myself and the template. I am taking them to Printing Press on Reynolds Road next week for printing -- which only cost me like $30 bucks. They will also do my reply cards.

I will have to put them all together but they are pretty simple. Im going to get labels for the envelopes. So all in all -- not amazing but fairly inexpensive. And they are vintagey, so Im happy. Good Luck!

When I first started planning the wedding, i said that invitation were one thing I didn't care about.  And then I started looking online and there were a TON of beautiful choices.  I can't believe how pretty some designs are.  http://www.etsy.com/listing/37836920/custom-illustrated-hot-air-balloon-save This was the Save the Dates we got and I love them so much.  I would love for her to do our invitations but she is a little too pricey.  Etsy has soooo many different kinds of invitations.  I will probably find a vendor there and have them custom design something for us.  Good luck :)

I second the etsy.com recommendation!  I purchased our cake topper and monogram labels from there and have been very pleased with both!

I was going to make my invites, but could never create something just right.  I would have liked to use a kit from Michaels or Target but couldn't find one I liked in my colors.  I recommend looking at those though there are some beautiful kits at many different stores.  They tempted me to change my colors sometimes!

I ended up ordering my invites from VIstaprint.  I like them because they are a unique design.  The one thing I dislike is the card stock is just a bit too flimsy for my liking.  I also have to order inner envelopes separately.  You can get great deals from VIstaprint.  If you put stuff in your cart and don't buy it they will start to send you e-mails with discounts.  I also managed to get free shipping saving more $$.

ETSY ETSY ETSY :)  I posted on the alchemy section that i wanted 100 invites w/ envelopes and 100 matching thank you's with envelopes and only wanted to pay $150 I got 11 replies within 1 day. The artist told me what they could do for me ( i wanted an invite w/ a clock on it, hard to find btw) and how much they would charge me. I went with http://www.etsy.com/shop/vonDigitalStudio she is amazing, she will work on the design and email me a copy then i tell her what i want to be different and she sends me the "fixed" version. We just picked out our font too (that was fun). I ended up getting the 100 invites, 100 thank you's and 100 RSVP'S for $155 and NO SHIPPING :) Her name is MEME and she is just wonderful. THe invite is exactly what i wanted and couldn't find anywhere but etsy.

FYI our invite has a clock on it that has a banner above it that says "it's about time" LOL FI and I have been together on and off for 12 yrs so we keep hearing "it's about time" so we figured we would just beat them all to the punch ;)

I'm DIYing mine completely. I cut out all the cardstock (and that's where the project stands lol), and have laid out a word doc that I will print onto each and then assemble. Complete with belly band, reception and rsvp inserts. I started working on them like the day after I got engaged-in March-and have just kind of got pieces sitting all over. I'll work more seriously when it gets closer.

I made mine completely from scratch.  I bought the paper, cut it and designed the inserts and invitation in photoshop.  I had lots and lots of help from family putting them together.  It was a lot of work but I absolutely love them.  I used the scraps to make my escort cards (oragami peacocks), table numbers, programs, and favor tags.  So the money was worth it too.

Etsy for sure!  I found a designer that had exactly the invite I was looking for (which no one else had- cartoon love birds).  The designer created a digital file, which I then uploaded to Vistaprint and had them printed on linen, for about $60.  I did RSVP cards on postcards, which were FREE on Vistaprint, and am having people RSVP to our website, so no need for inner envelopes.  You can be creative without knocking yourself out by assembling it all  yourself.  Bravo to the DIY girls.  I have neither the time nor the patience :)

We ordered ours from Vista Print. I think it cost like $110 for  200 invites, rsvps, and envelopes.
