Filter Brides!!!

Hey!  What are you doing for your 'planning meeting'?  I'm sure I knew this from the beginning but they can only be scheduled M-F from 9-5.  Since I've got a Friday night wedding I feel bad asking my entire wedding party to potentially take off a second day off of work to be at a silly little walk through.  I think we've all been in enough weddings to know how to walk down an aisle.  Do you think it would be realistic to only have one bridesmaid and one groomsman attend so as to not inconvenience everyone?  I'm trying to think of the best way to do this.

  • Yeah we are having an issue with this as well. I think we are going to have the planning meeting somewhat early, and bring my DOC to figure out layouts and any decor we are going to bring in. We are doing a Saturday wedding, and we won't be able to do rehearsal there Friday night, so we are going to do rehearsal somewhere out at WRL just so everyone gets a feel. Yep, keeping it classy going to a random piece of land on the lake to practice.

The ONLY reason that is so important is that there are 4 year old flower girls and I am nervous about them not 'rehearsing' and especially the shy one freezing up and panicking.

Would it be feasible to just make sure everyone knows the order of the ceremony? In being in a few weddings what is most important to figure out is a) how you want the parties lined up, which for me is shortest to tallest aside from MOH and BM, b) where the parents are going to sit, which gets sticky with FI's super blended family and c) making sure whoever is doing the music has enough time and the music doesn't run long or short.

Ladies, is there anything else crucial about the rehearsal for an outdoor wedding???
  • One of my friends got married at WP and just emailed all of us the important details.  Her flower girl was old enough that she kind of got all the info and just dragged the little ring bearer along with her.  We showed up about three or four hours early to do pics and make sure everything was the way it needed to be.

I think you can get away with no rehearsal.

  • Just make sure you bring lots of water for everyone, but especially for your WP.  They're going to be there in the heat for a very long time.

  • kholly - we are going to have bottles of water right next to the programs (which will be fans). We are probably going to print out some labels to put on the bottles, too.
  • Ok.  Yeah I figure we can do something somewhere else.  We've got little flower girls too, but both of their Mom's are involved in the wedding so I'm hoping that will help.  I'm hoping the fact that it's June 1st will help with the temperature.  I looked up average temps at that time of year here and the high is usually low 90's.  But water bottles are a good idea and there is NO predicting Texas weather.  :)

  • Even at 90-something the humidity is going to be pretty oppressive -- better safe than heat-stroked, I always say.

If you want to splurge, TK sells water bottles with custom labels.  For the same price (or less) you could probably print your own to make it cute and personalized.
