Venues in Dallas/Addison/Plano Question

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a list of ceremony and reception sites in Dallas/Addison/Plano for under 75 people?  I have some criteria:
  • ceremony and reception venues to be in the same location.
  • allows dogs so mine can wear a little tux (although not a must if a lot of places don't allow them)
  • size good for 10 banquet tables and a dance floor
  • some outdoor space would be nice
I was also wondering what the $ signs mean for reception venues.  Knot does not list the raw price ranges for $ vs $$ vs $$$ vs $$$$.  I want to know what figures I'm looking at.  Any ideas on that?

Since we will be having a smaller than average sized ceremony and reception, we are ok with up to $150/person included in food, beverage, venue rental cost.  Thanks.

Re: Venues in Dallas/Addison/Plano Question

  • Thanks all!  I think a dog friendly hotel with various function room options is the best way to go.  Now it's time to visit them all after I make a few phone calls.
  • Two questions:
    1. What month are you getting married?
    2. What type of venue are you looking for? Modern, Banquet room type, Rustic, etc.

  • Our goal is to wed sometime next year in May/June or August/September so when we go on a honeymoon to Europe, the weather will be nice.  Banquet style would work for me.  It will mostly be a dinner reception with a Photobooth.  I don't want to hire a DJ but might hire a string quartet for the ceremony because most of us will be talking and catching up.  For table decor, I want tall flower centerpieces with crystal drops, gold damask tablecloth and fine linens, gold colored silverware/charger, the whole works.  The venue websites I found most attractive are Adolphus, Rosewood Crescent Hotel, Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek, and Four Seasons.  We actually trimmed our invite list to 45 now to family and very close friends.  I don't want to meet a 12k F&B minimum at Stoneleigh so hopefully the other places don't have minimums.  Even at $200pp, it comes out to be $9k...

All hotels will have F&B minimums for a wedding.  My boss actually negotiated his down from $16k since he was having a smaller wedding.  You can forget about the Four Seasons.  My boss looked there and the minimum was $19k I think.

The Mansion is actually pretty reasonable and nice for a small wedding because it's not a very big space.  If you could somehow negotiate a fair price.

Even though people will be chatting, it is still nice to have background music during dinner.  No music will be kind of weird IMO.  I also had a string quartet for my ceremony and had them play through the cocktail hour.  You could also hire them to play through dinner.
  • Fairview Farms is a nice little area that can accomadate up to 200 I believe. I'm not sure if they allow dogs or not. They do have a small outdoor area and they are reasonably priced. http://www.fairview-farms.com/2622/index.html

I spoke with Four Seasons yesterday since they responded to me first.   I've been to Four Seasons weddings before so I already have a great impression of them and it's down the road from where my fiance grew up.  Their F&B min for the Las Colinas room is 12K on Sat and 10K on Sundays for the dates I requested next May.  It makes sense that the grand ballroom minimum would be 19K but with only 75 people, the Las Colinas room will be more than adequate.  I'm still waiting to hear back from the two Rosewoods, Adolphus, and several Westins for price comparisons, but my fiance and I are leaning toward Four Seasons right now because they allow dogs on their grounds, yay.
