Hello...

Attempting to start the process of changing my name...

Anyone have any suggestions about dealing with the Social Security Admin?

Easier to go down to the office or to go through mail??

Has anyone heard that there was a long waiting list for receiving card if you send it through the mail??

Any suggestions would be great!!

    I went to the SSA office twice.  The first time I went in the middle of the afternoon and told that the wait would be about 2 hours.  I left.  I came back a few days later and got there right at 9:00 and was in and out in 5-10 minutes.  It was easy and done immediately when I went directly to the office.  I don't know anything about doing it through the mail though.

    I went in August to to the office.  It said the wait would be 2 hrs, I waited only about 25 min though.  Just make sure to take your marriage license with you.  I was easy, the guy who helped me was really nice, and I got my new card in less than the 2 weeks he said it would take!

    Thank you! I did end up sending it through the mail... If I don't hear anything in 4 weeks, I will go down there and "wait." Thanks!
