Our Ceremony site and Venue CLOSED!

The news broke it to us that The Courtyard at the Navy has closed as of yesterday.  They have left many of us high and dry.  How are we supposed to find a new venue for this year?  I do know that I loved the Courtyard because it is unique and not like the typical "wedding reception" venue.  I am in desperate need to find someplace for our wedding and reception that is set for August 20, 2011.  I cannot believe that Tom Cousino did this so so many brides to be.  This is supposed to be OUR DAY and something like this just knocks us all down.  I feel lost now.  What are my options?  Any suggestions, our guest list is approximately 150 ppl.

I am so sorry to hear this!  Check out Tamaron Country Club.  The prices are very reasonable and they have a beautiful outdoor ceremony location.  Best of luck to you!

I am so sad for your guys.  I'd be devastated.

I would contact a wedding planner for some suggestions.  Mine is phenomonal, her name is Brittany Craig and she is at crowningcelebrations.com.  She may be of some assistance of some new places.

If you are at or under 150 I recommend Stone Oak Country Club.  We had our wedding there and they were AMAZING!  They are also reasonably priced.  I couldn't believe our final bill when it got it either, in a good way.  They don't do a ton of weddings so you have a good chance of your date being open.  I would have to say the things I liked the most there were that our menu was pretty much open to whatever we wanted and you can have multiple meal choices for your guests without and additional charge (we had four).  They were also EXTREMELY helpful in setting up.

I also heard that the Navy Bistro head chef made sure all the brides through June were set up elsewere, contact him/her and ask for assistance!

My friend and I went there today and spoke with the head chef.  She told us that their attorney was to get the checks to her and she hopes to get our deposits in the mail today.  If you haven't heard from anyone there please contact them and let them know you are a 2011 bride to be.  Angie Dickson totally screwed them and will not give up a lot of the information for the bride and groom.  Our files didn't have a lot of information in them because Angie lied to us all.  She pressured us into booking for this year telling us that she didn't have many dates left, when in fact, there are only 12 dates booked for 2011.  That leaves 40 more weekends that she said were booked and weren't.  The building is owned by the City of Toledo and the Courtyard is in forclosure.  They made their final decision to close on December 29, 2010 but that doesn't give them the right not to contact us with a letter or email or phone call prior to this going to press.  They told us the press "jumped the gun".  I think they are wrong, they should have had better sense than to screw with a bride to be.  Go to April Gladieux's website and see what venues have open dates and I hope we can all find a place we love as much as we loved The Courtyard.

I left the Navy Bistro on the first of October in 2010.  Way before any of this was taking place.  I did not take a thing with me from that location except for a picture of my husband and son.  All of the bridal information that you gave to me the day you booked I put into the system and they have that computer system in their possession.  So for the fact that you were told that I screwed them and didn't leave them a lot of information is a complete lie to you by the Navy Bistro.  I made copies of all deposits and gave all of the brides confirmation of date being booked.  They have all of the same information in their hands.  I was not the one who closed the Navy Bistro and I was not the one who failed to contact people in advance.  I feel absolutley horrible for all brides of 2011 in this situation and I have done nothing but try to help anyone out who has called me in regards to this catastrophe.  I have given names and numbers of locations for people to check into for a new venue and vendors.  The wedding community in Toledo is very tight and I have been a part of it for a few years now.  I have been on the phone for 4 days now trying to help brides out with options.  I hope that all the brides of 2011 that were booked at the Navy Bistro know that I was and am not a part of this situation.  Like I said I left there on October 1st of 2010.  I hope that all of you know that you take with a grain of salt what you here from a Chef in a location that has just closed their doors with no notification.  She is obviously trying to pass the buck and blame anyone she can except for the real people at fault and that is the Cousino family.  Good Luck to all of you and I truly am sorry for this situation that you are in.  Thank you! Angie Dixon

A friend of mine is one of those poor brides that got hit with this awful news.  She is using April at Your Perfect Day to help her find a new venue.  April was the one that was on Fox 36 news and in the Toledo Blade discussing this situation and what she can do to help all the brides that are affected by it.  April provided my friend with a FREE list of 40 venues in Toledo that have good reputations and are similar to the Navy Bistro.  April is was our wedding planner and was great to work with.  You can contact her at yourperfectdayllc@gmail.com
