Getting in Shape

Down and out

Hey ladies, so I have officially gained back the 3 lbs I lost, and I'm so bummed. I don't know why I can't stay motivated, with working full time, and having 2 kids, I am always my last priority. Anyway I started back with MFP today and am really hoping to find some motivation somewhere

Are you weighing yourself at the same time every day? I've noticed I tend to gain about four pounds by the end of the day due to water, sodium, food, etc. I always weigh myself first thing in the morning after using the bathroom.

is it possible to make the changes a family thing? IE cooking healthy meals for the whole family-sure you may get some resistance at first but if you dont keep junk in the house the kids will get hungry eventually and eat what mom makes.

what about family exercising? family bike ride, walk or swim or doing a video together the kids may not be able to do all of it but some of it they could do.

are you tracking your food? it only takes a few minutes a day and really holds you accountable.

I dont have kids but often used the "im too busy" excuse to get out of workouts or justify eating crap- you have to overcome it.
Make small changes at first IE week one focus on drinking 8 glasses of water a day week 2 drink 8 glasses of water a day and track all your food. Week 3 drink 8 glasses of water track your food and walk for an extra 15 mins a day and so on.

You can do this, you just need to do IT.

  • Don't be so tough on yourself!  I'm sure MFP will help in simply showing you a root cause - whether it be not enough or too many calories, lack of protein, etc.  Make sure to watch out for sodium and keep drinking water.
Also, don't forget as females, a lot of us always gain around that time of the month.  I usually am up two lbs, and I've heard of some people that skyrocket up five, only to lose it as soon as the time passes.
Many of the ladies on here are also on MFP, so grab some friends to help keep you 'extra' accountable!

This is a good idea. My dad used to take us for bike rides 3-4 times per week. We'd go to the duck pond to feed the ducks. :) In the winter, we did Richard Simmons' "Sweatin' to the Oldies" tapes with my mom. It was a lot of fun.

  • So I bought this ebook when I was trying to lose weight for my wedding and it gave me a lot of great tips.  I always found if I didnt have a VERY specific plan to follow, I'd go off track.  Just a tip :)
