Weight loss programs

I am looking for a weight loss diet program where I can get my food shipped to me. I am so busy, that I feel like having prepared food is the best option for me. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am looking for something that is affordable and that doesn't taste awful! :)

  • i know that door to door organics ships produce and meat to your house... as far as prepared foods...that is going to be expensive from what I know of..everyone who i know in this area that buys prepared foods pays a lot

    you could go with jenny craig or the biggest loser meals but its expensive.OR... you could just buy weight watcher meals from the store. its the same thing.

    You absolutely could find a program to send your prepared diet food, but what happens when you stop using them and go back to your old ways?  You'll gain the weight back.

    In order to lose the weight for good you have to learn how to prepare healthy meals for yourself.  We're all busy, but you have to make your health a priority.  Planning ahead, go grocery shopping and spend some time preparing meals and snacks for the week.  That way you just grab and go.  It's less expensive and actually teaches something.

  • Ditto Raynes.  I work 60+hours per week while planning my wedding, we're all busy.  There are weeks I do a great job preparing food in advance and meal planning and I eat better as a result.  Some weeks (like this week) , I did no grocery shopping and food prep, I'm eating like crap and feel like crap. 
    Sit down 1 day a week and make a meal plan for the week.  I'm a mood eater so I don't set specific days for meals, just think of things i may want to eat that week.  Then make a grocery list for all of the ingredients plus other essentials you may need....don't forget snacks! 
    Then spend 1 day a week doing advance prep for things that may require more prep work.  For example, my favorite lunch is a spinach and mixed greens salad with chicken, craisins, walnuts, feta and a yogurt dressing.  So, I pre cook and cut chicken and portion it out, that way in the morning it takes maybe 2 minutes to throw together a salad.  This meal is cheaper, healthier and in my opinion tastier than frozen meals (not that you have to rule frozen meals out entirely). 

    If you insist on frozen meals, buy them at the grocery store, it will be way cheaper and really not difficult to do at all.  I always have a couple in the house although I am not sure when I last ate one.  The most popular ones are lean cuisine and smart ones, healthy choice also makes some tasty options now too.  Be very careful of the sodium content in them though, as well as the amount of artifical things that may be added.  I also don't find them to be as satisfying as real meals either.

  • I agree with others. its a good temporary solution, but its expensive and wont be a good permenant change.


    Spend 1 day a week planning some easy meals.  invest in some good tupperware.  Cook things ahead of time and package your own 'freezer meals'.  Things like soups and stews keep well.

    In the fridge, I always have salad fixings around, as well as a little container of cooked chicken.  I also always have veggies already cut with the tiny containers of dip.  containers of berries with packets of instant oatmeal is great too.  Perhaps some tuna or egg salad for a quick sandwich.

    Find easy, healthy ways to do some of that, and keep leftovers in the freezer for a quick defrost/meal.  You're stuck with your body for a lifetime. Its time to make it a priority.  If someone argues with you that you're 5 minutes late because you're being healthier - then theres something wrong with THEM. =)

  • I lost 25 lbs on Nutrisystem in about 4 months.  It's all about discipline, but you know that already I'm sure :)  I was honestly never hungry and it really encouraged me to want to be healthier when I had to go clothes shopping for smaller clothes....twice.

    I know many people don't agree with packaged, processed foods, but it's all about finding a diet that works for YOU and YOUR lifestyle.  It was affordable for me as well....they can send it to you in 2 week shipments if you cant afford to buy the whole month up front.  However, you do save more for buying the whole month.  When I calculated it out, I was saving almost $300 a month.

    I have since switched to an organic, all-natural diet and feel great and have lost another 5 lbs without really trying.  I feel great...I just FEEL healthier.

    I have always worked out 3-5 days a week....I just needed help with the food.
