Getting in Shape

Help, the wedding is 2 weeks from today

I've lost 20 lbs in the last year and toned up a lot.  But my mother of the bride dress is clingy and accentuates my stomach.  Losing 5 lbs would solve that but realistically I don't think it's going to happen.  The wedding is a DW wedding in New Orleans and we leave in one week to get things ready.  That's what has me terrified.  6 days of eating/drinking in New Orleans with a dress that is already tighter than I want.

I have already bought (and returned) 2 back up dresses.   I can't find anything I like as much as this dress and I have tried on lots.  I bought tighter Spanx.

I have been walking 3 miles every morning religiously since Jan. 1.  I then do 24 - 36 minutes on the elliptical in the evening followed by 25 - 30 min of weights with some abs thrown in about 6 days a week.  It feels like I've been doing this forever.   I seem to have hit a plateau.  I really don't care about the number on the scale - I just want to lose an inch off of my stomach.  Instead, my thighs get thinner.

Any suggestions?   I will be able to work out in NOLA and I will try to be good about food but I know we have stuff planned so I'm not going to be as strict as I would be if I were at home.

  • Cut out carbs, eat fruit, vegies and salads with protein for dinner and excersise!! You can do it, just remember you have a dress to fit into and that should give you motivation!!

Uh...there are carbs in fruits and veggies. Do you mean grains?

And all body wraps do is dehydrate you.  As soon as you rehydrate yourself, everything you "lost" comes right back.

The best thing you can do is cut out processed foods, soda, and alcohol,  drink lots of water, eat lots of fruits and veggies, and cut back on your sodium (but not too much, you need SOME).  Make sure you're eating ENOUGH.  If you don't get enough fiber, adding a supplement like Benefiber (it mixes into your drinks, doesn't have a taste, isn't gritty) would be ok--but do it now.  It might cause some constipation at first, so drink plenty of water.  Everything should be all evened out in two weeks if you start now.  Basically, all these things will help cut down on bloat, which is probably what will make the most difference two weeks out.

  • Cut out all sugars for the next 2 weeks.  Only proteins and leafy greens.  Drink LOTS of water.  5 pounds in 2 weeks is totally doable, but it won't be easy with all the celebrating going on.  Just try and focus on what you want more.  Every time something that is going to blow my diet calls to me and I think, "I want that," I also think, "I want to look fabulous in my dress even more."

  • I've been doing a body wrap that isn't dehydrating at all.  It tightens, tones and firms you and you lose inches in an hour.  You can do it every 72 hours from home and it's very inexpensive.   I've been having great results!
You can order it from:  www.gethealthywithjanel.itworks.net
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions! Good luck!

Yes you're right... I should have been more specific, wrote this post late last night;) I meant she should cut more carbs like processed foods, white bread, pasta etc...I know there are carbs in fruit and veggies but its ok to have some throughout the day. I think its best to grab an apple or some carrots over a candy bar or muffin anyday!

  • I know you know how last minute this is,

That being said, it'll be tough,  doable,  but you have to ask yourself, what do you want more?

The food and the drinks or looking great?

I'll be 100 percent honest,  if its only 2 weeks away,  and you really want to lose that 5 lbs, you'll have to be on point with nutrition,  keeping up the resistance training, while also decreasing calories, somewhat drastically,  which will only be a quickl fix.  I never really reccomend that,  but you asked.

High protein, low carb works well in the short term.

    Good luck!

  • NEED to throw in Resistance training to get through that plateau.
