POLL: Resting heart rate

72 bpm is normal, 32 bpm is Lance Armstrong's (go Lance!), 45 bpm is mine.  What is yours?

Re: POLL: Resting heart rate

  • I'm not sure, but it's normal :) Wow, that's a slow rate!
  • 60 bpm. Lance sounds dead. How can his heart beat 6 times per 15 seconds and that be healthy?

  • LOL. His oxygenation of the blood is good and he has a lot of erythrocytes flowing around, bringing that O2 to the cells, also removing the CO2. And his heart is strong so enough blood is pumped (if I remember correctly the speed is higher in his case) is out with enough O2. Makes sense? Everything is better tuned so to speak :) But yeah, in my world he'd be dead, hehe.
  • 32, wow!  Mine is between 48 and 60.
  • It makes sense, but it makes my head spin. I <3 Lance, so I'm glad he's not dead. =P

  • I heart Lance, too.  He's #2 right now, right behind Contador, who is also awesome!
  • I know! Go Lance!

Im having a "duh" moment... but how do you find this out?
  • Ok, I figured the pet peeve expression out :) Wanna know why I asked you that, Nebb? "favourite" :) You can use a heart-rate monitor or simply with your second and third finger measure the pulse agains your other wrist. There's one spot that is extra good for measuring and if you position your arm into about 90 degrees at the elbow, then let your hand fall down, you can find the spot at the thumb's root. Then measure for 30 seconds and multiply by two.
  • Mine is around 58-60 bpm
