Getting in Shape

numerical analysis

ok so Im actually gettin around to putting numbers to all this crap so I can better manage myself. so I bought a scale and I now know that have to lose 35lbs in 9 months, I drove my car and measured the distance that Ive been running and its two miles and it usually takes me 20 mins so thats a rate of approx. 10 mins/mi and Ive been doing about 30 sit ups a day. I have yet to get on this sparkpeople or whatever you guys are talkin about and start counting calories ANYWAY is this a decent workout for my goal? Is 2 miles really anything? Its starting to feel like its nothing so ill be adding on a third mile really soon. thanks

Re: numerical analysis

  • thanks alot. strenth training huh? I've been totally ignoring that. I just got back from signing up with sparkpeople and messin with it for about an hour and discovered that every little thing I ate today, including the 1/2 of brownie this morning and a 1/2 1.5L bottle of red wine that i didnt even drink all of and a whole salad that i didnt even eat, and Im at 1,337cal and 14g of fat witch is like 1/2 of what its telling me im supposed to have which I find hard to believe. I dont know if the amount they were giving me is to maintain or if its based on what I told it I wanted to loose. well its telling me my goal calories is 1,520 - 1,870 and 39 - 69g of fat

I dont know how much you weigh, but I started at 206 and was told I need to eat 1560 on non work out days, 1860 on work out days, I need to get atleast 34g of fat (and if you are eating foods with good fat in them - eggs, milk, nut butters, etc, it isnt hard to reach that #). You need to make sure you hit your protein though - protein is what will help repair your muscles after a work out which builds muscle, speeds your metabolism and makes it easier fr your body to burn fat.
  • oh wow, see I never knew about any of this before, that makes a lot of sence thanks a lot. So is it like if I eat less than those #s, I wont loose as much weight? Im at 185 btw 5'8"
