Are you having a rehearsal?

Are you having a rehearsal for your ceremony?

Wedding Countdown Ticker

Re: Are you having a rehearsal?

  • No - and we do not have a wedding party.

It's an extra 250 to have the ceremony site for a rehearsal (unless they don't have anything booked the night before - then she said she'd let us in) and an extra 75-100 for most officiants.

We don't have a wedding party..so I'm thinking there really can't be that much to walking down the aisle.

Plus - if a few things get goofed up - they get goofed up. I can go with the flow. :p

It'll keep the mood light! :p Haha

  • We are having a rehearsal.  We have 5 bridesmaids, 6 groomsmen, and a FG and a RB plus readers.  It'll be nice to spend the evening with them as well since we will have dinner after.

    Anniversary
  • No rehersal for us. We don't have a wedding party. I'm glad it's one thing we don't have to plan.

  • No wedding party here either, but I will be having a welcome dinner since this is a destination wedding and I want to see people longer than one night.  Renting a park pavilion for $25 and ordering some pizzas.  The park has a bouldering wall and and alpine slide.
  • Same as Michelle. Plus our church requires it so everyone knows what to do and the ceremony goes as smooth as possible. We just booked our rehearsal dinner last week!

  • They charge you to have the rehearsal??? That's crazy!

We have a very small wedding party. But even if we didn't have any BMs or GMs, I'd still rehearse. Both our parents (moms mostly) are easily confused in new surroundings haha. Rehearsal is a MUST for us, so that day of we're not all wandering around dazed and confused lol.
  • We are.

We're going to do a run through at the church with our wedding party. Everyone needs to know what the deal is!

  • I don't think we are having a rehearsal.  We also do not have a bridal party so everything seems pretty straight forward for us.

Yeah - we will probably do something similar. FI's family is traveling about 12 hours to come here - and my family has never even met his family (other than abuela).

  • We don't really have a wedding party just the FG and RB which are my kids. We are having a rehearsel though to ensure that my FI knows where he's supposed to be lol.

    The Officiant or the Location?

I sort of understand both. If they have to block their rental space for us to rehearse - or show up to open everything up - I can understand why they would charge - yknow?

But if it doesn't rent the night before - they'll let us in to decorate and/or rehearse if we chose to.

  • I didn't pick one of the answers cause mine is "I don't know yet'

  • yes i am.....we have 6BM,6GM, two junior BM's, and 1 flower girl
  • We are. 5 BMs, 5 GMs, 1 RB, 1 FG and 2 readers. It is kind of necessary to have a rehearsal because we will also have 3 interpreters so we need to figure out how everybody will be able to stand so others can see the interpreters.

Oh yeah. I can definitely see the necessity there. Phew.

Do you have someone that can help you coordinate everything that day?

  • We are. 4 BMs, 1 JBM, 4 GMs, 1 JGM, 1 RB, and 1 FG. We're having a barbeque at my parents house for the rehearsal dinner, so everyone will be 5 minutes away anyways and my dad is a deacon so has a key to the church, still have to check with the pastor if he'll be there though.

We are as long as the theater isn't booked for the night before.

    1. We want to see the set up of the ceremony and make changes if need be.
    2. I want to make sure of how I want things to flow.  Where I want the guests to sit & so forth...if I want the entire wedding party on stage or have them sit on the side front rows..........

Not really except for our officiant, she's the best! She runs the place and helps people design the program so she will be helping us out with he arrangements. Shouldn't be too difficult!

  • No, they are not common at all here. But the day before we'll have a private civil ceremony (as opposed to the spiritual one on our wedding day - European thing), with just the(grand)parents, siblings, and our tiny BP (best man + MOH + 1BM & their SO's). So sort of.

  • Our venue offers the rehearsal at no extra charge. We have BMs, GMs, and FGs, but we're doing it mostly because it's a tradition, not because I'm worried about someone screwing something up. We also have a lot of OOT BP members so it will be nice to host a dinner for them.

  • We are not having a rehearsal because the day before our wedding is my birthday and we will be traveling to wedding destination all day. It is only a four hour drive from where we are, but we will still be tired.  We are just going to have a quick meeting with our WP about what to do and then FI and I are going to eat for my birthday.

  • Yes, our church also requires one and I think we'll need to rehearse since we are 6 BMs, 6 GMs, 2 FG, 1 RB, 2 readers, and we will be having two Reverends participate in the ceremony.

  • I said no. Jews don't really do rehearsals. I do have a bridal party but we all know how to walk and we can go over it quickly before we start if needed.

  • we are having a rehearsal because my church and minister require it.  i think it is really important if you are having anyone other than the two of you be a part of your ceremony - just so everyone knows logistically what is happening (where to stand, what way to face, when to walk where, etc.) if it is just you and your fiance involved in the ceremony, and you have an opportunity to meet with your officiant beforehand, i don't think it is necessary.
  • I'm late to this thread, but I agree with the above. We're having one since we have 8 BM and 8 GM, so the logistics of where all of those people will stand (despite the fact it's a large church) scare me without the idea of one. It's also required by our church.

  • Yes, and we have a wedding party (4 BMs, 4 GMs, 2 flowergirls, and 1 ring bearer). We have a wedding planner, so I'm not stressed about it at all...she will be running the show! We're planning to go to dinner at a local Mexican restaurant afterward.
