Getting in Shape

Poll!

Bc I'm curious...What types of workouts do you do, and how often?

Re: Poll!

  • I do 30DS everyday, and run 3-4 days per week.  Sometimes on the weekend I change the Shred up with something that looks fun on demand or the NYC Ballet Workout.
  • I run 5 days per week, anywhere from 3-12 miles (and that is continually increasing) per day.  I also try to do at least one yoga class per week and do some free weights for my arms and abs at least 2 days per week.
  • Currently, DH and I are: Walking between 3 and 4 miles 6 days a week. Playing around with Wii Fit -- Jillian Michaels' Wii game sucks so we went with the original Fit game. And, perhaps the most important part of our workout is wondering how comfortable we'll feel on the beach in Aruba complete with "old man beer bellies" if we don't work out.

Oh thank god, a poll. Its so dead in here! I work out 5-6 days a week, more often 6 because I feel bad taking more than 1 day off in a row. Day 1 - is lower body weights at the gym (I do a number of weight machines at the gym, heavy weights (legs range from 95lbs-120lbs), I do some ab work outs and then 30-45mins of high intensity cardio on my upright bike at home later in the evening. Day 2 - upper body weights at the gym (weight machines - ranging anywhere from 45-90lbs), ab workouts and 30-45mins high intensity cardio on bike. Day 3 - day off from weights, cardio only. I normally do 45-60 mins high intensity cardio. Day 4 & 5 are just a repeat of 1 & 2, then I take day 6 off, repeat.
  • I work out 4-5 days a week.  I do 60 min spin 3x per week, kickboxing or step & sculpt 1x per week, and usually one day of elliptical and heavy weights.  On Saturdays I do spin for an hour, then 30-60 min of weights as well.  I really feel like I should up that to 5-6 days a week, but doing an hour each time, I need two rest days.  Anyone think that is not enough?  I have been seeing results, but I feel guilty taking days off!  I usually take Fridays and Sundays off.
  • Biggest loser 3-4x a week.. take a 2 mile walk a couple times aweek too. lately it has just been the walk since I jacked up my hand/wrist ( which is now turning colors).

OH! Ill also point out that on my next upcoming "day 3 - cardio day", I am going to my first spinning class. Im hoping that if it goes well I will start doing spinning on my cardio day regularly.
  • I have been doing 30DS but I only do it every other day. I have started the C25K program and am on week 1. I go for walks on off days. I like to bike ride on Fridays and Saturdays.
  • i work out 6 days a week.  every once in a great while i miss a day, and i feel so guilty and gross.  usually i rotate jillian michaels DVDs in the mornings (NMTZ, BFBM, 30DS) or i have 'body sculpting basics' by the FIRM.in the evenings, i'll run or do my walking DVD 2x a week.  i'm trying to make that happen more often, but with the wedding only 4 weeks away, it seems like every evening is packed with things to do that i just don't have time to run.
  • This is my routine/ideal schedule. Lately because of a lot of weddings and other obligations the schedule's been a little bit more in flux than this. Sunday - High intensity cardio, usually on the treadmill, 50-60 minutesMonday - Light cardio, 30 minutes + 60 minute bootcamp classTuesday - Heat/Sculpt class: 30 minutes of high intensity cardio, 30 minutes of anaerobic abs, free weights, etc.Wednesday - off day Thursday - 60 minute session with personal trainer, mix of aerobic and anaerobic circuit trainingFriday - High intensity cardio, 40-50 minutes Saturday - Light cardio, 30 minutes + 60 minutes pilates/yoga class.
  • My ideal week goes something like this: 2 days of running (about 30 min) 2 days of swimming (about 45 min) 1 day of elliptical (about 35 min) One weekend day of something outside- hiking, kayaking, golfing, etc. I need to mix in weight training so I think that instead of doing my cardio during lunch I am going to start doing weights during lunch (then I probably don't have to take a shower and can work out longer) and then cardio after work.

5-6 days a week I go to the gym and do a 7 minute bike warm-up, 30 minutes of strength training (chest + shoulders, biceps + back, legs + triceps) and then 30 minutes of cardio (usually running or the elliptical). On days that I don't make it to the gym, I do 30Day Shred and abs at home. I also walk about 40 minutes a day (to work, walk at lunch, home from work).
  • Every other day I do WHWW or Turbo sculpt (rotate those two weekly) then I walk/bike 55ish minutes 5-6 days a week.  Tonight I'm doing WHWW and a 20 min yoga DVD cause I miss my yoga, but weight training has been helping with my toning so well!
  • Maybe if I write out my ideal workout schedule, I'll actually keep it up...but first this is reality:Mondays: 1 Hour kickboxingTuesdays: 30 min high intensity cardio, absWednesdays: Repeat of TuesdayThursday: Hour strength training classFriday: ohhh...I dunno, this day is always in fluxSaturday: 30 min cardioSunday:Let's be honest...I suck at working out on Sundays too...IDEAL...aka, the new plan!Mondays: 30 DS before work, 1 Hour kickboxing after workTuesday: 40 min high intensity cardio, absWednesdays: 30 DS before work, Repeat of Tuesday after workThursday: Hour strength training classFriday: 30 DS Before work...Saturday: Cardio, some strength trainingP.S. I just copied and pasted the ideal schedule and printed it to put on my refrigerator to hold me accountable! :)Thanks for this post!
  • I'm running 4 days a week.  A kickboxing bag workout 1 day a week and a kickboxing/wrestling workout 1 night a week.  The kickboxing workouts are 1 hour 15 minutes.  My runs range from 30 minutes to 1 hour and a half.  Sundays are my days of rest, no activities unless it is 'recreational'.
  • Great Question!  I just started the Firm Body Sculping system this week. They want you to start slow and only do 3x week. M_W_F I do the cardio sculpt, then Tuseday I do upper body workout with weights and Thursday I do lower body weight workout.  Now I need to get in some solid ab work. I am thinking of joining my girlfriends Pilates (she's a killer instructor in spin and pilates) class on Tuesday and Thursday evening. I usually take the weekends off because I have so much other stuff to do. I always try to get a walk in though.
  • I run my 2 miles everyday alternating between dogs that I take w/ me. If I have an off day its usually Sun. I've started doing 30 tricep dips every other day and I try to do 30 sit ups everyday but it usually works out being every other day or maybe 5 days out of the week
  • I run four days a week.  1 long run (6 miles and increasing), 1 medium and two shorter.  I'm starting to take one short run outside for a change.  I swim two-three days a week.  Right now about 30 minutes, but I'm increasing to swimming about a mile so it'll be 45-60 minutes.I've just started to add strength training 4x a week, and Pilates 3x.
  • I run about 4-5 days a week...I try to get in about 15 miles per week.  Then I try to fit in 1-2 days of strength training (usually either Biggest Loser BootCamp or Jillian's NMTZ).  Total I usually work out 6 days a week.

  • Wow do I feel like the resident slacker...I do strength training 2 times a week, 1 hour per session, with a trainer, and then I do cardio 2 times a week for an hour each session.  I walk our dogs for an hour a day too...and I run around after 3  little girls (7 months, 2.5 years, and 6) 2 days a week...
