Vent - Everything that has gone wrong.....

So I was just wondering if everyone else has had as much as me go wrong tin the planning of their wedding. Feel free to share everything that has gone wrong for you so we don't all feel so alone! Ok so here is everything that went wrong so far ( well the major stuff):1) first thing was I ordered a dress is my previous city before I moved away ( my mom still lived there to pick it up) We paid for in full and ordered the dress before I left so I could pick it out with my friends and family. When the time came to go get the dress mom called the store and no answer. So she went there to see what was going on. There was a sign on the door saying "out of business for financial reasons" we could never get ahold of them and lost the dress and the money2) We booked a venue in Whistler BC...it was a lodge that could host the ceremony, reception and do the catering, and everyone could stay there for accomadation. Anyway after paying our deposit and ordering our invitations with this information on it we find out that this place is up for sale! They could not guarantee anything if the place got sold before the wedding! So of course we had to cancel this whole thing and basically replan the wedding AND reorder AND pay for invitations AGAIN3) The biggest thing going wrong has been money. During this last month of planning we have had to cut out a lot of stuff becuase we are not going to have enough money. We even had to cut out our honeymoon sooo sad4) I had to go dress shopping ( for my second dress due to the other one being lost as mentioned in #1 )in my new city by myself because I don't know anyone here. It was a really sad experience watching other girls with their moms and friends. Its just not the same trying it on all alone5) My supposed best friend since kindergarten JUST told me a couple days ago thatshe can no longer make it to my wedding due to financial reasons. She was also supposed to be my only bridesmaid...so now I had to look for someone else i barely know at the last minute6) I can't afford to get the reception location properly decorated anymore so it is basically going to just look like the pub it is7) I am just not happy with the way my dress looks on me. I feel fat in it and I didn't lose enough weight to have it look the way it should on me. Gaaa there is a lot more too but I think I covered the main stuff. This must be what they mean by "wedding stress"

Novodca - Wowzers!! First of all I am really really sorry!! It sounds like you have went through the ringger! I have recently moved and know no one in the area and have gotten frustrated several times when I go shopping by myself send out what I found and everyone disagrees...but mind you none of them are coming out to help me Either way this made me laugh and hopefully it does you too!! So out of desperation, I went shopping and was between a few bmaids dresses. The staff at the store actually tried them all on for me it was hilarious and made me feel better about my lonely shopping!! It was entertaining to say the least! All the best luck I am sure it will turn around!!

Im so, so so unbelievably sorry all of this has happened to you. The amount you have had to go through to get to this point is horrible :(Not to downplay how upsetting and frustrating this all is, when your wedding day comes a long - none of these issues are going to matter. You will be so caught up in your wedding day, none of it is going to affect how incredible it feels to be standing there saying your vows and marrying the man you love. I know its lame and cliche but its almost as though for those few minutes the world stands still and you experience something amazing. The fact that your reception doesnt look perfect, you cant go for your honeymoon (we couldnt for financial reasons as well), your dress isnt "perfect", just doesnt even compute in your brain. You are so busy enjoying the moment, holding onto the moment, feeling so happy, that you dont notice anything else.I know it wont seem like that now, but hopefully when the day comes it will. Please try to be happy with your body and happy with how you look because you are going to be so beautiful on your wedding day, regardless of anything not going as planned. I promise.

Ok, just take a deep breath...I am so sorry that you're going through all this.  Just remember that people are going to be excited to share your marriage with you.  It might not be your dream dress or the reception place decorated just the way you envisioned, but the two of you are going to be there in the center of everything, surrounded by those who love you.  It's a powerful thing.  I hope that things start going your way.  And maybe you'll be able to take a "honeymoon" for your first anniversary or something like that.  My dad always says that tough times make good stories....you're going to be telling some GREAT stories down the road!  Just take a breather and go with it.  Best of luck to you!

Wow Thank you ladies soooo much! Honestly you have all made me feel so much better. Its comforting to hear perfect strangers offer such kind words! bThis group really is great! Yay for the GIS board! HUGGGSSS for all!lvasilen - hahaha thats hilarious about the bridesmaid dresses! what an awesome shop for them to do that!Nebb - thanks for reminding me the true importance of the day. I know that is what its alll about and keep telling myself that too. Its just hard sometimes when all this other stuff gets in the way of thinking of whats really importantba0419 - So true about having some stories to tell from all this. Someday when I have a daughter and she is getting married and stressed out I will have my own horror stories to tell of how "it could be worse" ahahThanks again ladies!

Wow novodca, you're really unlucky. I think pretty much everything that can go wrong has gone wrong... I'm very sorry for everything that has happened. I agree with the PPs and think that you shouldn't focus on what has gone wrong but instead you should just try to stay positive and enjoy your wedding day. Good luck!
