Workout Accountability: Tuesday

Good morning!

Last night I did end up doing the pilates workout.  Although I don't think I burned a ton of calories, it was pretty relaxing and I felt like I got a good stretch in. Tonight I'm lifting and doing the elliptical.

How did everyone else do?

Re: Workout Accountability: Tuesday

  • Went for a good run at lunch yesterday, and did a weight workout this morning.  I was really sick last night, though, so had minimal energy this morning, so I had to lessen the weights on a few things.

  • Nice job :)

Last night I did some lifting and did my ab challenge.  Tonight I am planning on doing a hilly 7 mile practice run but it's freakin cold!  I run so terribly in the cold I'm starting to get worried about this weekend.

Normally in the winter I treadmill it or am outside when it's a little warmer out so I don't have any good outdoor running gear besides underarmour shirts for the cold.  Anyone have any good recs for some good but not too pricey running tights?  I'd run in sweats but for a race I feel like they'd weigh me down too much.  Now that I'm checking, Sunday is supposed to be in the mid 50s so I should be okay but I'd still love some recs!
  • Good Morining! Sorry I haven't been on the past few days. My great-grandmother passed away over the weekend, so I haven't been around my computer much. She lived a very good and long life, but still sad. She and my great-grandfather were married for 70 years! I hope one day FI and I get there!

I did manage to sneak in some work outs over the weekend. I worked out a lot yesterday morning to blow off some steam since I took the day off. I did cardio for an hour and then lifted for 30 minutes. I am trying a new cardio work out on the treadmil. I don't like to run because of the pains I get in my ankles and lower calfs due to a "medical issue" I have (I use the term loosely). So running or anything high impact can sometimes be painful to me. I have been working my way up to running in bursts for about 1.5-2 minutes. Then I go back to a fast paced walk, usually I set the treadmil to aobut 4.3, and I do hills. Then I alternate back to jogging for 2 mins (about a 6 on the treadmil). I lost a couple more pounds and tha tape measure is moving again!

    Nice job everyone!!

  • Maribeth, I'm sorry for your loss.  It's never easy to lose a loved one no matter how young/old.  That's amazing that they were together for 70 years!  Also, congrats on the recent success on the scale and with measurements!  It's great that you found a routine to do that wont bother you too much :)
  • Thank you for your words lbarr. No, it is never easy. She was a great lady and I will truly miss her.

Thanks for your words of encouragement too!!

  • I wasn't feeling well last night. I ended up taking a nap when I got home from work and didn't feel well enough to even do some light cardio. Still feeling a little ishy today but I'm hoping I feel well enough after work to get to the gym.

    Great job everyone!

  • Maribeth, I am so sorry for your loss.  My grandparents had such an inspiring marriage, too; it's wonderful to have had such role models.  I hope you and your family are doing okay.

  • Uff da!  I'm struggling with my food intake this week.  Though my scale went down 1.2, so that was a motivator!  And my belt is also saying good things to me.  I didn't exercise last night, but tonight is cardio and weights.  I'm really trying to improve the toning/lose the back roll area for the strapless dress!

Once upon a time, there was a boy who loved a girl, and her laughter was a question he wanted to spend his whole life answering.
  • Maribeth: I'm so sorry for your loss, that's always very difficult.  And 70 years is truly amazing, I bet she was a great lady!
Congrats on your weight loss too!  Sounds like you're over that plateau with those new workouts you've been doing!

lbarr: I actually bought all my running spandex/tights at a TJ Maxx.  I have Nike and Asics brands and they were really cheap.

  • Good morning, ladies!

Sorry to hear about your great-grandmother, maribeth. Hopefully you have great memories of the time you spent with her!

Last night I started week 6 of C25K. Tonight I plan on doing one of JM's longer workouts--probably 6 Week 6 Pack.

I really hate her Ripped in 30 diet plan and this is only our second day. I am modifying and adding things to it as long as I stay within my WW points. I mean, who can eat a plain turkey kebab for dinner?! Not me!

After glorious 80 degree weather last week, we are freezing today! I wore my heavy winter coat this morning. I was just getting excited to switch out my winter wardrobe, too. Boo!

    Have a great day everyone!

  • I'm enjoying the laziness of recovery :)  I am not planning to do any strenuous workouts for another week or so.  I'll keep it moderate at best, so some easy runs & a spin class or so.  I sort of tweaked my knee a little bit during the marathon, nothing big but enough that I want to let it heal.  I did at least get it checked out, they said it's just a minor meniscus tear & some straining on the ligaments (thank goodness there's no ACL tear!!)  Rest & recovery is all I need & I'll be back to racing next month...but short races for sure!

lbarr- good luck on the 10k!!
maribeth- I'm so sorry for your loss [HUGS]
lobsters & entropic- I hope you're both feeling better soon :)
  • Maribeth- so sorry for your loss, always sad no matter how old your loved ones are.

Today I'm going to do a fartlek for the first time! 4 miles! Wish me luck!!

<div>Seriously. I love this store. And I refuse to pay full price for workout clothes, running shoes being the exception.</div><div>

  • Good Morning!

I'm feeling super sluggish today and then I looked at the calendar and noted that I've entered PMS territory. It happens every month to some varying degree... sluggishness, bloat, headache.... and I want to eat. Everything. This time I was craving those Trader Joe cookie dunkers.... and hot cheetos (I blame my students for introducing me to those chips). I have yet to cave in to those cravings... but man oh man do I want some cookies. I woke up this morning and hit snooze so I missed spin, but they have a 9:15am class so I'm going to try to go that... otherwise I'll run for 30 minutes and do a 30-minute interval circuit.

I feel like I need to get back on a schedule again. I was so miltant about writing and now.... I have a lot of open time. Perhaps I should put that to use in wedding planning?

Lastly, Maribeth: my deepest condolences to you and your family. She sounds like she was a wonderful woman and a great role model to you. May the wonderful memories you shared with her grant you solace during this trying time.

  • maribeth - I'm so sorry for your loss

As far as working out - It didn't happen today - Shame on ME!! I was doing so well for the longest time and this month I fell off the bandwagon, but I hope to get back on and lose another 30+ lbs like I have already done.  You gals on here are such an inspiration!
