Workout Accountability: Wednesday

GOOOOOOOD MOOOOOOOOOORNING!

Yesterday I was feeling incredibly lazy and unmotivated. Afternoon break came along and I was just going to be a bum, but my co-workers actually WANTED to go on a walk, so we did...then after work (I stayed late) I got home and all I wanted to do was sit around. I almost let the lazy win, but at 8pm I begrudgingly put my workout clothes on and convinced myself to get out the door. I figured even if I only did 20 minutes of cardio that it would be better than no minutes of cardio.

It seems like the last couple of weeks I've been having a lot of trouble keeping food in check and being motivated. I'm probably going to eat poorly and not get as much activity over the next 3 days, so once I get back from Thanksgiving I'm going to really try to re-focus.

Now you go!

    Wow, it's REALLY slow here!

As predicted, I didn't get a workout yesterday, and won't likely get one today. Yesterday was insane! I left work early to go meet DDs teacher. I was leaving there to pick up supper for FI (he teaches at that school and was staying between parent sessions to do some work), but my car battery died so I needed a boost. I got going, picked up supper for him and brought it back, brought DD to her dance class, picked her up and hour later, we had supper, then I had a reception for the festival that I had to attend. By the time I'd gotten home last night it was 10:30 and I was pretty wiped.

Tonight is DDs school play, so after my own rehearsal (one at lunch and one after school) I have to get her ready and come back to the theatre. I have testing in my classes this week as well, which means modifying work and installing computer programs.

clearly, food will have to be my focus for this coming week.

Happy thanksgiving to all you US knotties!!! Enjoy the holidays, and don't stress about the turkey thing. Being with family and friends doing whatever you want to do to celebrate is all that matters! One holiday indulgence won't derail all of your hard work.

Not to get all preachy - I remember my sister refusing to eat a sliver of her son's first birthday cake because she was trying to lose weight to compete in a fidure competition. she'll never get that moment back.

    Just sayin'

  • That's a responsible way to approach thanksgiving Kwith!

In the past I've always been a picky eater so I would just get a tiny bit of turkey and some mashed potatoes and then I'd eat a crap-ton of dessert. This year dinner is at my sisters and I KNOW her and her boyfriend know how to cook...so I'm going to try to focus on eating better portions of non-sweets :)

I was thinking no one else would come along for accountability today! Dang holidays!

  • I'm here too!!

Yesterday I got a 4 mile walk in, though my eating was probably a bit over. I went out to dinner with friends, though I got the healthy fish dish so that was hopefully better than all the delicious looking pasta/cheesy concoctions.

Today I'm going to go for another walk, as I'm resting my legs up for tomorrow's race!

My approach to thanksgiving is very similar to others'. I usually take a bit of everything, though it'll be nice to get a run in on Thanksgiving morning that way I'll have more wiggle room! Though I have to pull double duty (lunch thanksgiving with my FI's family; dinner with mine), so we'll see how that goes! I also agree that it's important to have days to break the routine and enjoy time with family and friends!

Happy Turkey Day tomorrow! Oh, and I'm definitely VERY THANKFUL for all the friendship and support I've gotten from this group of fantastic women. Just thought I'd get that in there in the spirit of Thanksgiving!

[QUOTE]Wow, jenny, you definitely have a lot going on. You're rehearsing like crazy for that play of yours! I'm sure it's going to be awesome. What is a fidure competition? Also, I'm a huge believer in everything in moderation with Thanksgiving. I know I'll eat a little bit of everything, so my main goal is not to overeat by too much, and to get in a good run in the morning with my sister in order to give myself some leeway.

Figure competition - oops! I was typing as I was on the way to lunchtime rehearsal (which I had to leave for lunch duty - ugh)

It's like a bodybuilding competition, but supposed to be less intense. They do all sorts of crazy things to get ready, including dehydrating themselves the week of the competition so that their muscles stand out more under their skin. Most of the girls in her class weighed in at 98-100lbs on the day of. She was a whopping 106 and is 5'4. Totally extreme and not healthy. She was mentally 'out to lunch' for the whole month of because her diet was so strict and her workouts were averaging 3 hours a day.

    Not my scene at all!
