I guess before I jump in and start writing all over the place, I should introduce myself. My name is Shel, and I'm a senior in Secondary Math Education (even though I don't graduation until Spring of '12...boo!). Everything I've heard says ixnay on the getting married your first year of teaching, so we'll be waiting until November of '13. It's a long engagement, sure, but my FI had to move two hours away for school, so we decided to get engaged as a sort of light-at-the-end-of-the-tunnel. I miss him every day.
Life has been kind of crazy since I started college, and now I find myself overweight for the first time in my life. It's been a real wrecking ball on my self-esteem, but I've finally identified the causes (total lack of activity and healthy eating choices - go figure!) and decided to get back on track so that I can look like I did five years ago when my FI and I first met.
Honesty check: I'm 5'10, and weigh 195 on a good day. When I graduated high school, I was weighing 140-150 (I can easily fluctuate 5-10 pounds because of my height). I'd like to lost about 50-60 pounds, but the weight isn't nearly as important to me as having tighter arms and a flatter stomach.
I haven't been counting calories or anything, but I've been drinking a glass of water before, a glass during, and a glass after meals, and trying to get on the elliptical for at least 30 minutes a day during the school week, and lifting 5 lb weights to help tone my arms.
Phew, this was a long post! I guess I just been lacking discipline and accountability, and where better to find it than with a bunch of fellow brides-to-be!
