Getting in Shape

*raynes*

Have you heard of Calorad PM?

It's just pure liquid protein but it claims that if you take a tablespoon before bed, it helps you burn calories while you sleep.  The premise is that your body burns fat in the first half hour to an hour of sleep anyway - but it needs protein to do it.

How does this sound to you?  Bogus?

Re: *raynes*

  • Sounds bogus.  There might be some theory behind it, but really, it's not that much different that just eating something before bed.  I think the benefit would more so be from keeping your metabolism going than anything else.

And really, if there was some magic pill or drink we could take to get (and stay) thin easily, wouldn't everyone be thin?

This article does a really good job of summing up a great opinion on various supplements.

  • That being said, however, I'm a big supporter of a higher protein diet.  Personally, I've found that I'm much more sated when I get more protein.  Which makes sense, as it does take longer for your body to process protein than an already processed carb.
