Workout Accountability: Monday

Good morning all!

I dont know about you, but waking up t his morning was tough.  I did eat relatively bad yesterday.  We made our own wings and dip so we were able to control what was in it.  I did get light beer too.

I did spin class in the morning so I thought I wouldn't feel as bad... well I do.  Monday is my first long day (Wednesday is my other) so I can't get to the gym.  Lots of office exercises for me.

My semester is starting to pick up, so I'm hoping with you ladies I can keep up the good work.  (My pattern is always to use school as an excuse to not go to the gym...)

How was your weekend?  What's on the agenda for today??

Re: Workout Accountability: Monday

  • Good morning!
My journalism class is watching The Help so they can practice writing a movie review, so I am getting caught up on some grading while they watch.

Had a great weekend! Took Friday as a rest day. Tried bison for the first time when we went out to dinner on Friday night with FMIL & co. It was delicious! I had a bison burger--it was smothered in blue cheese--but it was a "healthier" option in my mind. FI and I split fries, so I would consider it a success.

Did 45 minutes of Zumba plus Ripped in 30 on both Saturday and Sunday. Kicked my butt, it did. I am feeling stronger in my plank which I can now hold for 30 seconds.

Tonight I'm going to do 20 minutes of Zumba plus Ripped in 30. I'm moving up to Week Two of Ri30 on Wednesay. I like it a lot more than 30DS. Definitely a more intense work out; although, Jillian's ego is definitely bigger this time.

Hope everyone had a great weekend and a happy Monday!

  • Overall this weekend I didn't really eat bad but just more than I should've.  Last night was baked wings (not breaded just in a mild sauce), tortilla chips wth salsa/guac and some veggies and dill dip.  The main food item was lasagna but it was made with all sorts of veggies and had sweet potatoes so it actually was pretty healthy.  I just ate way too much of everything so that is what was probably bad.

Friday I did some arms and legs at the gym.  Saturday I went for a run on a route I never ran before and it felt great.  It felt even better to know that it was 6.7 miles :)  Yesterday was my off day but there was lots of shopping to be done so I did tons of walking before the Superbowl feast.

    Nice job everyone!
  • I ate like crap all weekend, but I didn't care... I ran 17 miles on Saturday so I feel like I earned a guilt-free weekend :)  We didn't run non-stop the whole time, we stopped twice to use the restroom and we ate some gummies along the way.  It was hard but it felt so good to finish.

    Nice job everyone!

I am proud to say all weekend I was under my calorie goal despite having a party with FI's family on Friday, my best friend's birthday on Saturday, and super bowl yesterday! It definitely was a challenge though, but I am really glad I was able to stay on track. I worked out both Sat & Sun for about an hour each. I weighed in on Saturday and I am down another 6 lbs!!

Medi - Wow 17 miles - That is awesome!

<div>Awesome job medic!  I hope I can run that much some day :)</div>
  • I wish I could report a good weekend of exercise and eating healthy but sadly that didn't happen (travelling always throws a monkey wrench in the works).

There were a couple of meals where I opted for healthier items, but on the whole I still ate too much and didn't get any exercise in.

Gonna get back into the exercise tonight, hoping to get at least 60 minutes of cardio to get back on track.

  • Yeah, I ate like crap yesterday too. Ah well.

I lifted Friday, took Saturday off but did lots of walking while shopping, and yesterday I lifted and did 40 minutes on the elliptical.  Tonight will be a 4-6 mile run.
Damn Medi, 17 miles is awesome!

    Nice work everyone!

  • Hi, ladies!

I need to get back in the routine of posting!!  I realized I have about 3 months left until I leave for our cross-country move/road trip then the wedding, so I am kicking things up a notch.  Oh, and I bought a bathing suit yesterday Surprised

I didn't eat terribly yesterday, but I ate over my calorie goal.  That's the bonus of watching the SB by yourself - no major snacks in the house! :)

I did sprinting intervals this morning for 30 minutes on the treadmill and 30 minutes on the cross trainer.  I plan to go to hot yoga tonight.

My overall strategy: cardio/weights with machines 5 days a week, yoga 3 days a week, 30DS 3 days a week, one rest day.  (So working out twice a day during the week.)

I'm down 16 pounds and hope this can get me down another 10 before May! :)
  • Awesome job girls! My biggest accomplishment was getting the FI to sign up for a 5k this summer in NYC. Called the color run, I think they throw colored powder at you. I have bad left knee and ran my first 5k last year only to hurt my right, so training is back up! Hopefully no injuries this time. Great job on the calories girls! Having some day-after regret for being over cals, but changing that to be motivating factor!

This weekend I was relatively good on food.  A little bit of cheating yesterday (I drank a beer and had a slice of pizza).  But other than that, things were good.

Saturday was a team workout with others at my gym, and I felt like CRAP.  I started cramping terribly bad.  I think I was just dehydrated.  Then Sunday was my "globo gym day" and I did dumbbell rows, bicep curls, dumbbell flys, and russian twists.

    OK... Monday.

The next few days I'm in "baseline testing" for my programming... so that means a few days of absolute SUCK!

    Today I've got:
    • Warm up: Ten minutes rowing at a 2:05min per 500m pace
    • 1 Minute Max Handstand Pushups (I HATE THESE WITH A PASSION)
    • Rest 5 Min
    • Three Attempts for Max reps of unbroken Double Unders with jump rope (goal of 70+)
    • Rest 5 Minutes
    • The a 15rep-10-rep-5rep Set scheme of Squat Cleans @ 135#s and Dips done on the Gymnastics Rings
    • Cool Down:  Ten minutes rowing at a 2:05min per 500m pace
I'm super nervous about today... the workout with the cleans and dips is going to be super hard.

  • Nice job everyone!  I just want to take a moment to remind those upset about "cheating" this weekend that it is OK.  It is OK to treat yourself and indulge every once in awhile as long as it doesn't turn into a daily thing.  If you regularly eat well and exercise, a day  of less-than-ideal eating wont undo everything you have accomplished.  Remember, being in shape is over the long term.  Those who eat healthy and work out over the long term are often in better shape than those who only do these things occasionally or in small bursts.

Keep up the good work all and most importantly don't get discouraged!

  • Hey Ladies... nice work over the weekend.. a little cheating is good for you ;)  Now to get back to it!!

On Friday, I ran a 5k in my fastest time yet.. 28m and 46s.. prob slow for the runners, but I am feeling great about it!

Medic - 17 miles, that's awesome!! I can't imagine being able to run for that long!

Sat - I took the day off and the boy and I went to Siesta Key beach for the day. We did some walking at least.

Sun - Strength class and sprint intervals on the treadmill. Then we watched the Superbowl just the two of us so we ate healthy :) It's always easier when there's no parties or company over haha

    Tonight was spin class.

Only 75 days til the wedding... and 53 til the next dress fitting yikes!
  • Yeah I had a hard time this weekend too, between my usual splurge on Friday night pizza, grabbing lunch while running errands on Saturday, going to the casino buffet (which fortunately didn't turn out to be that good anyway), and Super Bowl during which fiance agreed to stay home and I would cook seafood gumbo but insisted on white rice instead of brown even though I've been trying switch starches for whole grains.  We were so busy taking care of wedding related stuff that I didn't make it to the gym all weekend :-(

I did make it for a Monday night workout and did the arm machines and over 20 minutes on the treadmill.  And went back to the whole grains for dinner, I thought the wheat pasta was quite tasty with parmesan sprinkled on top although fiance admitted he still doesn't like it quite as much.
Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.
