Workout Accountability: Monday

Hope everyone had a nice weekend!

This is most likely a post and run, since I have a pretty busy work day ahead.  I went to the gym Friday and Sunday and took Saturday as my rest day.  Tonight will be a 3-5 mile run and hopefully it feels as good as last time I ran.

How did everyone else do?

Re: Workout Accountability: Monday

  • This weekend wasn't as full of exercise as I had hoped.  I ran on Saturday but not as far as I had planned because FI had a friend come and visit who I hadn't seen in a few months.  The weekend involved lots of food but there was a lot of walking around, etc.
I have officially decided to postpone my half marathon until warmer weather months instead of February.  I will still train but not as vigorously.  I am bummed, but running in cold weather kills my asthma (exercise induced asthma... go figure).  I'm currently looking for one to register for now in April/May.

Tonight will be a gym sesh, but I'm not sure exactly what I will do yet!
  • lbarr- sorry you have to postpone your race :(  I would be bummed too but I'd rather wait and have a good performance than rush into it unprepared.

I didn't work out this weekend because I had a liver biopsy Friday.  It was about as terrible as it sounds, and I'm still pretty sore :(  I have a bruise on my ribs- it looks like I got roundhouse kicked by Chuck Norris!  OWWWWCH!  I can't do anything strenuous or lift over 20 pounds til maybe Wed or Thurs.  I do plan to run next weekend.  I guess it depends on how I'm feeling.
  • Ugh, I was doing soooo good last week! I worked out Mon - Weds night... and then Thursday I started feeling run down... by Thurs night I had a fever, and got a bit of a bug that caused me to be out of comission through the weekend... even after my fever broke  on Sat. night, my hubby made me stay in bed yesterday... but I am feeling sooo  much better today, and hubby said we can go to the gym tonight as long as I take it easy... he's so good to me... looking forward to getting back in the swing of things. So glad to see you ladies did well...

Ibarr dont be too hard on yoruself about not working out as much as you wanted... it's tough... especialy this time of year when it is so busy with the holidays... just stay positive and keep in mind that you are still being good to yourself by workign otu at all... some exercise is still always better then none... even if it's not as much as we hope for... hope you ladies have a good Monday. Good luck on your run tonight Jude :)

  • Medic- Yeah there's another half marathon (part of the "half marathon trilogy" on Cape Cod) that is in May which will be MUCH better for my poor lungs.  My plan is to work on distance in the winter and not time for the long runs and then in the spring conquer the time battle.

brianna-  I constantly have to remind myself that its "ok,"  thanks for being that reminder today! :)
  • I took the weekend off but got to spin this morning. Planning on spin again on Wed, no lift on Tue so I can study for my finals, hoping to get a lift in on Thur, and another spin on Fri!

  • I kind of fell off the excercise wagon this weekend. Getting back at it this week! Volleyball match tonight and some resistance training.

  • FI and I are going for a walk tonight because I am still bummed that I can't use my wrist.  I didn't know sprains could be that bad :(

I tried running last wed but it hurt to bad so I have not done anything since and I can really tell.  Just when I was starting to tone up a little.

Keep up the good work everyone!
  • Hi! I'm new, but I'm gonna jump right in.

This weekend I did a deep clean on my house so that was my Saturday work out. Sunday I rested.

Today I did the one hundred pushup challenge exhaustion test. (DIdn't do so well b/c I'm still sore from Saturday) I'm also doing hip rotations, 15 mins on the air walker, and the initial test for sit ups tonight! I'm very excited.

Today is day one of a 12 week workout routine I designed. So I'm starting kinda easy and building up.
  • I did 60 minutes of cardio at the gym Saturday - 40 minutes on the elliptical and 20 minutes on the incline treadmil.

  • Thursday - 30 mins on Elliptical, 15 mins weight lifting
Saturday - 30 mins on Elliptical, 15 mins weight lifting

Tonight I will be doing the same routine. I wanted to get a workout in yesterday (60 mins on recumbent bike) but ran out of time doing some freelance work.

  • Saturday Zumba, Sunday 5k run, today spin class.. feeling a little cold coming on tonight.. hoping I can shake it quickly!!
  • Saturday was my taekwondo test. These are incredibly painful things, so Sunday and today were rest days. I go back tomorrow, heaven help me.
  • I'd like to join :) I think I need some accountabili-buddies :)

I've been doing p90x, but have been finding that the full hour is almost too much for me. So I've started with just a half hour of each session. Tonight was Core Synergistics (a mixtures of all things core--push ups, lunges, jumping jacks, etc) and I did it for a half hour. Feeling pretty tired, but good.

I've also been eating better for the past month and a half or so and I've gone from 150lbs to 140 lbs so far. I'd like to get to 135 by mid January for my trip to Hawaii :D

Everyone keep going! We're all going to look bomb on our wedding days! (or just bomb in general if the wedding day has already passed) :)

  • Hello,
I am also kind of new to the forums.
Last week was very busy for me, with work, meetings, and family obligations.  So, I got back around to working out on Sunday, when I did a Walk Away the Pounds mile followed by at home full body strength training (designed with the help of Spark People!)  Today I also did a mile walk.  My primary focus with limited time has been on watching what I eat and making sure my calorie/protein/fat intake is in balance.  The exercise is also important, but I am not trying to ramp up the intensity too soon.  I want to be in it for the long haul and not burn out!
