Workout video recommendation

Hello ladies!

I've lurked for a little while here and I'm hearing good things about the 30 day shred videos, however...

I haven't done any type of exercise routine or regimen since high school, and junior year at that. I don't enjoy working out, though I do like the feeling AFTER working out, if that makes sense.

Anyways, I'm looking for your best beginner video recommendations. I'm starting a yoga class this coming semester, and I'll have access to the school's gym and group classes (zumba!) but that won't be for almost a full month. I want to get going now, to get in the routine.

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

Re: Workout video recommendation

  • I just started the 30 Day Shred last night.  I haven't done any real exercising in about a decade (I'm ashamed to admit!) besides for the occasional Zumba class.  It was rough, and I did a lot of screaming and cursing during the course of the video, but I did enjoy it.  The workout is easy to follow and didn't feel like it was lasting forever.  It focuses a lot on arms, which is what I need since I hate working out my arms.

  • If you're thinking of doing yoga, I highly recommend "Pilates/Yoga for Any Body" by Theresa Borgren.  Found her dvd and fell in love with the workouts.  This one has two 30 min. sessions that really work to tone you and help burn fat as you develop your core muscles.  She also has just a "Pilates for Any Body" which has 3 20 min. sessions (upper body, lower body, and core).  I had never taken either pilates or yoga when I bought these and foudn that I increased my flexibility and seriously toned my body (especially my abs and arms). You can get both on Amazon- link below:

  • I've been doing Hip Hop Abs. It's alot of fun and not super intense.

I like Pauline Nordine (not sure about that spelling) butt bible workouts. There are arms, abs and butt workouts and she is funny so it distracts you from thinking about how long you have been working out. Good luck!
  • Thanks!

I think I'm just intimidated by the 30 day shred... I may give it a try. I'm also going to try the pilates for every body, sounds like I may really enjoy it.
