Getting in Shape

Please Motivate Me

FI is away on business and I've been feeling tired, lazy and blah all day today, but I need to snap out of it. I've got my gym bag packed and it is by my feet, but I need extra motivation today.  So please ladies, just tell me to go to the gym afterwork.

Re: Please Motivate Me

  • I totally know how you feel.  95% of the days I cannot wait to go to the gym, buttttt there are definitely those days where going home sounds muuuuch better!  HOWEVER, think about how you will feel after you are done at the gym!  What a sense of accomplishment, especially when you think about what you could have done (i.e. sitting on the couch, eating food that isn't good for you).  Plus, the "tired, lazy, blah" feeling will go away!  Exercise is a natural energy booster!  GO TO THE GYM MSGRAPHICS!!! :)  Think of your goals you have & just force yourself to go :)

I've been there plenty of days myself...I just tell myself "you don't have to stay at the gym long, just go for a little bit...." And once I get there I am totally motivated to stay and work my butt off and I feel so GOOD afterwards!

  • I usually convince myself with the promise that if I do 30 mins of cardio/lifting, whatever, that I can go home afterwards if I really, really want to.  Most of the time, I end up staying longer.  Sometimes I don't, but I'm never sorry for still going, even if it was for only 30 mins.

Do eeettt!  You'll feel better afterwards.

  • Go!  I know it always ends up being more enjoyable than I think it's going to be.  Also, I never regret going, I only regret the days I skip because of those missed opportunities!

  • Thanks Ladies!!!  This really does help.  My ipod is charged and I'll be leaving work in like 20 mins.  I won't be giving in to the laziness tonight. The hardest part is getting there but once I'm there I'm good to go!!
  • Go to the gym! :) I say it because I know exactly how you feel. I couldn't understand why I was feeling so blah for soo long. But my FI and I just joined a new gym and we have gone two days in a row and I feel awesome. I feel motivated and energetic. I got my gym  bag packed and I plan on going 5 days a week. Don't know if that's realistic for me but that's my goal. I ultimately want to lose 50 lbs. So you're not alone in how you are feeling but I promise you, you will feel great. I told myself not to expect perfection and if I eat something I shouldn't,  I won't get down on myself anf give up, I'll just go to the gym and continue exercising. That's all. I want to keep it simple. Good luck :)
  • I have to get back into things, also. I am recovering from a middle and inner ear infection which totally knocked me on my butt. I would just keep telling yourself how good you will feel after going.
