Getting in Shape

Slimquick?

I am curious about Slimquick. I would NOT be using it as a "crash diet"... I exercise regularly and eat right, but I am not losing as much as I would like and am looking for something to just give me a little edge-- more energy on workouts, etc.

I have heard good things about Slimquick, but wasn't sure if anyone here has tried it? What did you think?

Re: Slimquick?

  • What is your weight compared with your height?  Are you close to where you should be?  Maybe that is why you aren't losing.

Also, are you losing inches?  How do your clothes fit?  If you are still losing inches but not pounds, let it go.

I'd change up my workouts (maybe HIIT or a different cardo exercise) or switch up diet (check out my calories, maybe bump them up or down, or just change some of my foods) before drinking any diet shake or powders.  But that is me.
  • My short answer: don't do it.

Long answer:  Most of us here have tried diet pills at one time or another.  Truthfully, they don't really work.  I did slimquick for about a week.  i broke lots of glassware at work (I'm in a lab) from having shaky hands from too much caffeine in my system, and I was anxious. all. the.time.  It affects everyone differently, but its still not worth it.

I agree with PP.  Switch up your workouts, try high intensity intervals, go find different ways to exercise.  Biking, hiking, running, whatever.  i would try journalling if you aren't already, to see if maybe you're eating more cals than you should be for weight loss.

  • I had made a PP last week about the Slimquick fat burner powder packets. I bought them and then was hesitant to take them. I was told not to by many knotties but you know of course I'm taking them anyway. They make me a little jumpy but it is no different than if i had an extra cup of coffee in the morning. I've lost 3 pounds in the past week. I dont know if that is good or not. I know there is no way that this can be good for you but I'm doing it anyway.
  • Healthy, sustainable weight loss happens at a rate of 1-2 lbs (or around 1% of your body weight) per week.  Much more than that and you're either likely doing harm to your metabolism, or just dropping water weight (and losing muscle mass).

You didn't put the extra weight on in a week, so it's silly to expect it to come off in a week.

I tired Slimquick back before I knew any better and I hated it.  I think I lasted a week.  I was jittery and paranoid.  Not worth it.  If there was a diet pill that was safe, healthy and effective don't you think that everyone would be skinny?

Many people hit plateaus in their weightloss and many people successfully bust through them.  First make sure you're eating enough.  Some people restrict their calories too far and stop losing weight.  Next, try eating clean.  Eliminate as much processed foods as possible and eat real, whole food.  Third, switch up the type of exercise you're doing.  Once you've been doing the same thing for about 4 weeks your body starts to get used to it and becomes efficient at it.  Efficiency is your worst enemy when it comes to weight loss.  Try new things and increase the intensity.  Google HIIT for good workout idea.

  • Slimquick wasn't around when I went on my diet pill rampage in high school, but if it's like any other diet pill type substance, I would highly recommend you skip that route. After doing and seeing research on the weird and unnatural things diet pills have in them while I was a nutrition major, it scares me to think that people think that it's a reliable way to lose weight.

Like pps said, mix up your workouts and what you eat instead.
