Snacks for Work

I try to bring healthy snacks to work, but I'm getting tired of what I've been eating lately.  I usually snack on a few pieces of fruit and some plain popcorn, or wheat bread with peanut butter, but I'm ready for some new ideas!

I prefer to have items that don't need to be refrigerated as we have a small community fridge and it gets packed if you don't get to work before 8:00am, but I'm not opposed to putting something in the fridge if it's fairly small.

Any ideas, ladies?

Re: Snacks for Work

  • Look under the thread titled

    Frustrated and Discouraged...need advice/help

It has a bunch of snack suggestions.
  • nuts, greek yogurt, hummus and veggies
    Anniversary
  • Laughing cow cheese with some pretzels! Not sure if the cheese actually has to be refrigerated or not, I do but I also like it cold.

  • I eat a lot of fruit, water, nuts and vegie juice at my office.  Drinking vegie juice or making a fruit/yougurt smoothie at home and drinking that in the morning really curbs hunger later in the morning for me.
    Time of our lives Anniversary
  • Snow peas and baby carrots.
I usually bring cut up fruit and greek yogurt for the afternoon.
portioned packages of nuts ( I prefer almonds)
I often drink a big cup of peppermint tea in the afternoon-I find it curbs my hunger (often Im not actually hungry-| just think I am)
    1 square of dark chocolate

    Good luck!!

  • I will make sure to check out that other thread, thanks for letting me know.

Love the idea about Laughing Cow cheese!  I've been meaning to try that and those are small enough to throw a few in the fridge.

I've been wanting to try greek yogurt too!  Do you eat the flavored ones or do you get the plain and add to it?  I've heard of people adding granola and fruit to the plain, but I'm not sure I'd like that.

    Thanks for the suggestions!

  • Granola is basically just sugar and oatmeal.... So I'm against granola.. but we all have our little "cheats" :)
I do plain nonfat greek yogurt and add cinnamon with oatmeal flakes (dry) or flaxseed.. or pumpkin puree (mmm... sooo good.. )

You can get the flavored stuff but honestly, I think it's a bunch of added junk to a good thing that you could do without or add yourself to make it morehealthful.
  • Shoot, I didn't know that about granola.  Too bad because I love it!

I really like the idea of adding cinnamon and oatmeal to the plain greek yogurt.  I think I'll try that and maybe throw a few blueberries in there, too!

  • I bought the greek yogurt and cinnamon at the store last night, also some Laughing Cow and Special K crackers, and some green tea with pineapple.  Can't wait to try all this new yummy food!

Thanks again for all of the suggestions!

  • yay! It's always fun to mix up your eating, so that you keep up your good food habits! Hope everything turns out great :)

Also, I know right.. that's why everyone loves granola... *le sigh*
  • I Love Veggies and Hummus, yum! peanut Butter and bananas or apples. Sliced Fruit.. Also, maybe you can bring an ice pack to help keep some of your cold foods chilled.
