Re: Arms!!!!!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!

  • Jesus Christ, we get it with just one !  You don't need 75 of them.

The best thing you can do is lose weight.  Track your calories and do cardio, and then lift weights.  "Toning" is just building the muscle and losing the fat so you can SEE the muscle.  You won't do anything if you do arm exercises without losing the fat on them.

  • Arms are my insecurity as well.
I have noticed that higher intensity cardio has really helped get off that unwanted fat and lifting "tones" them.. but you WILL NOT see that muscle until you burn off that fat.
Around the house things that are easy are..

But seriously.. cardio is key here.

Here is my change in arms from JUST cardio (no lifting at this point)

e-pics a couple months before the wedding

wedding pic. I lost about 2 inches around my arms in a couple months.

NOW I have defined arm muscles because I have added in way more lifting (and keep up the cardio as well)  but I don't have an updated picture of le arms :/ Sorry.

    What are you doing cardio-wise?
Also, don't forget your diet. I know you are probably tired of hearing that but it makes a WORLD OF difference. That's usually everyone's downfall.. I Know it was mine

  • I agree, you (or anyone) will need to lose some weight to see the muscle.  Diet and cardio will help with that, especially running.
While you're doing that, though, continue to work on the muscle.  Tricep dips, pushups, shoulder presses, and bicep curls will all help.

  • I agree i need to lose weight...problem is 3 years ago i lost 75lbs on WW without working out at all....so my arms have just stayed extrememly flabby....

right now i do a 30 min dvd of slim in 6 because i have used it before and it definately trimmed me done...just never stuck with it before...i have about 20lb to lose to be considered "normal weight".....

i know i messed up by not working out when i lost all my wieght previously so i was just looking for some really good options to work out the arms.....

i plan to start running soon...now that the weather is great for it and it will be light out when i get in from work....and in about 2 months i should be able to get into our pool

  • She's meaning the exclamation marks. It was a little excessive and unnecessary. We get it. You need help... It's not a life or death situation, though.

You are still going to have to lose weight to lose that armfat. It's just the way it goes. Cardio will help slim them down, but there is absolutely no spot-reducing, so just doing arm work outs will not help you. In fact, just doing arm work outs will build muscle without pulling off the fat so you could end up with even bigger arms over time.
  • The "8 minute arms" workout is really helping me (using light weights). You can find it on YouTube. It's out of style and a little cheesy, however.
  • I have been doing the P90X / Rockin Body videos, and have had huge success - however, i have started the 100 push up challenge, and from doing this only for 2 weeks - its a 6 week challenge I have seen a huge difference in the muscle definition, just this weekend I was asked by a few people what I have been doing for my arms :)

  • Deanna, YOU are not the one who should be sorry.  There is nothing wrong with using !!!!!!!!.   If people don't like how or what you post, they shouldn't reply.

You did receive alot of good advice from some nice people, BUT,  you received a very rude response by someone who is apparently a frustrated beotch!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sorry to budge in here, but I was wondering the same thing and didn't know about the cardio v. toning thing.  May be a stupid question, but is there a cardio that is better for arms?  I'm doing 5x a week (3 days of jogging and 2 days of biking).  On the days that I bike I do sit ups and push ups.  But those two cardios I do are primarily legs, should I be doing another cardio to work my arms out better?
