I started WW

Hi everyone. I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Steph, I have 50 lbs to lose before my wedding on NYE. I've been working out fairly regurlarly since the end of last year, but I know that if I want to reach my goal then I need to have the eating part in place too. So, I started WW online today. I'm kind of nervous because I've never done well with dieting. I can't even count the number of diets i've been on in my adult life (i'm only 29). Anyway, I'm really committed this time though, so I'm hoping this time will be different. Does anyone have any tips for staying committed to your diet plan?

  • Hi Steph!  I also do WW online and I find it really helpful.  The best tip I have is to follow the rules.  Don't cheat by not tracking what you ate, even if you ate something that you maybe shouldn't have.  It's ok to mess up and eat too much as long as you learn from it and track it.  Good luck!  You can definitely do this!

    How's this for motivation? Healthy weight loss is about 1-2 pounds per week. Sooo, if you have 33 weeks until your wedding and you always TRACK your points online and stick with the program, you can lose 33-50 pounds no sweat! Many of us are in the same boat as you. We've all tried dozens of diets and had our issues with them. With WW, you can still eat the foods you love (in moderation) and lose weight. Stick with it! You can do this!

  • I'm re-joining WW next week.  I've been using my treadmill regularly for the last couple months, but I've only last 4-5 pounds.  My date is next April (tentatively April 9, 2011, but nothing's booke yet so it can change).  I'm in the same boat as Steph (hi, Steph!), with my goal to lose 1-2 pounds weekly until the big day.  At least we've got time to do this the right way, right?  When I did WW before, I lost something like 25 pounds, but I didn't track my intake and was known to cheat more than I should.  This time I'm doing it by the rules.



  • Welcome!  I'm another Steph that just started WW.  I agree with PP- track everything.  Even if you mess up.  I usually feel better knowing that a "fessed up" afterwards anyway! Besides, you're the only person who really sees that food log.

    Are you doing meetings? Just doing the tracking online?  If you have a phone with data... I'd recommend the "Calorie Counter" app.  It's really helpful when I go out to eat too :)
