30 Day Shred?

So does Jillian Michaels 30 day shred really work? I think I'm going to purchase it, but I wanted some opinions first! Also, what do you do after 30 days? Start over again? haha I'm better with short term goals, so if I know I have 30 days to go.. I may stick to it... then take a day or 2 off, and start it over again... 6 months til the wedding... I can get it done roughly 6 times haha

  • Short answer- depends on what you want it to do.  Get fitter/in better shape?  Yup, it'll work.  Accomplish substantial weight loss?  Not without dietary changes and some additional exercise on top of 30DS; it's only like a 25 minute workout per day; even if it's hard, you can only burn so many calories in 25 minutes.

    Also note that repeating the same exercises every day for six months is probably going to cause you to plateau; once your body gets used to the 30DS routines, you won't get as much benefit out of them.
  • It works as far as helping tone your body and get in shape a little better. If you keep your diet the same though might not see as good of results. I shredded inches, not pounds when I did it. After 30 days I would keep doing it or get another one of her dvd's. 
  • Yes, it works. I'm currently on level one and it's no joke. I'm a runner but using 30DS to tone my arms/back for my dress. I thought I was in good shape since I've recently run two half marathons. Let's just say it hurt to squat in the bathroom after two workouts. Its effective, but if you want to lose weight you'll need to reduce your calories as well and add some daily walking or running into the mix. After 30 day shred, you can repeat or try her other dvds like ripped in 30.
  • I lost over 2.5 inches on my waist, 2 on my hips, and 1 in my arms in my first round of 30 DS . (with calorie counting of course)

  • It totally worked for me but just as others said it depends on what "works" means for you.  I am in good shape but wanted to tone up.  I just finished last Friday and lost 8lbs and an inch and a half from waist.  I also built some great arm muscles.

    Will it help you get in shape if you push yourself and watch what you eat?  Absolutely but you get out what you put in.

  • I'm really hoping this helps me.  I've been telling myself for 3 weeks that I'm going to start working out, but it just hasn't happened.  I just ordered this off amazon and it's the first real step I've made to get myeslf motivated.

    179 days and counting.
  • It does work....I can barely get past the first day level 1 on my dvd player so I just keep repeating it and adding a cardio workout in there also since I can't get past day 1....I also like doing Jackie Warner's Personal Training Power Circuit Training video...Jillian with Jackie is an ass-kicker!!!
  • i would say since i've tried it.. your muscles will hurt but its not enough cardio to lose much weight. I would say add it to a cardio workout and the results will amaze you! --at least thats what my co-worker did and she looks amazing!
