Rec any video except for 30DS?

I started the 30DS video this Monday and I really don't like it so far.  I feel like it is mostly leg exercises.  My legs (mainly quads) have been sore nonstop since Monday.  They need a break!!  I tried looking at levels 2 and 3 to see if they focused on legs less, but it seems like this video is all about legs!  My legs gain muscle really quickly and my quads are already nearly rock hard after only 5 days.  Are there any good videos that are more balanced on their focus areas or maybe even have different focused workouts to switch between?  Should I just suck it up and continue the 30DS workouts?

Weird.  I found 30DS to be pretty balanced overall.  Are you using dumbbells and doing the exercises with proper form?  It's really easy to just let your legs do all the work on some of the exercises.

As for other workouts, I don't do many but I like the NYC Ballet Co workout too.  Lots of people love zumba.  Maybe try a video of that?
  • Same, I just finished day 10 of 30DS and find it brutal on my arms - are you using dumbbells? Other than 30DS you could try some of the P90X videos...

  • I do P90x and I love it. Each workout if different and keeps you motivated.

I am also looking into trying Zumba, because it looks like so much fun!
  • I personally love 30DS and think it works every muscle.

A co-worker was just telling me how she does Yoga Booty Ballet. You should see her legs.

Another thing I've found on Pinterest is www.bodyrock.tv. All the videos are free and they all seem to be intervals/curcuits. I've looked at some of the workouts and they seem waaaay too challenging for me, but if you're looking for something a bit more difficult you might want to check that out.

I'm using 3 pound dumbbells.  It's not that I don't find that it works other parts of my body, I just think it overworks the legs.  I think I'm doing the exercises correctly.  Maybe I'm just going too deep into my squats? <div>
</div><div>Another reason why I'm worried about it being too much legs is because I'm also trying to not overwork my knees.  I injured one a few years ago and it didn't heal correctly and it gets angry at me when I do too many leg workouts.</div>
  • For me, the 30DS is incredibly balanced. In fact, if anything it's too hard on my arms. I also use 3lb. dumbells and sometimes I struggle to get through some of the arm moves (the side lunge with the arm raise on level 1 kills me every time). Maybe try upping your weights?

Follow what the girl does on the right (the blonde) if you're worried about your injury.  Jillian states multiple times through the levels that if you've had injuries or are having difficulty with the exercises you should follow the girl on the right's modified exercises.

Her workouts are incredibly balanced in my opinion but they're also very difficult so you're going to feel the burn...being the point of pushing yourself hard in under 30 mins!  You're not increasing weight on your legs throughout the levels so I am not sure why you'd be worried about building up muscle?

  • Another P90X girl here!!!  Love it!  Lately I've been doing the weight lifting exercises without the dvd's.  I just follow the sheets or find the list of moves online.  It saves soooo much time.  Worth every penny!
