Double Chin?????

I absolutely HATE my double chin. I have lost like 15 pounds but my double chin is still there.... Is there anything out there that you know of to help tighten it up? I have e-pics next month and I want it somewhat gone for that. Any suggestions?!?!?!?!?

Re: Double Chin?????

  • Rule of thumb for pictures is to make sure the camera is above you and that you're never looking down at the camera -- I have a friend who's a size zero (trust me -- I hate her) and even SHE looks like she has a double chin if the camera is below her!  I know that's not a fitness tip -- but it DOES help to be looking up

  • Double chin will decrease while losing body fat and cardio will help melt it off. I'm not aware of any exercise for the chin, but it seems like crunches would help since there would be some strain on neck as well as abs. Chewing gum maybe? I've lost 100 lbs and still hate my chin at certain angles.
  • There should never be strain on your neck while you're doing crunches.  If there is, you're doin' it wrong.

  • I feel your pain.  I have the same problem.  No matter how thin I get, I still have a fat face and double chin.  It's just what I look like, I guess.  Short of losing all of my body fat and looking like a walking skeleton or having plastic surgery to suck it out (which I've considered, btw), I think I'm just stuck with it.

Learn your camera angles, like PP said.  I look best in photos if my face is turned at a slight angle instead of full-on toward the camera.  Also, make sure you stick your chin out just a little bit while the pictures are being taken.  Having it tucked up against your chest will make it much worse.
  • I hate my chin too, but I hate it more when I eat processed foods. Take a look at your sodium content and scale it back for a few days -- see if that makes a difference. It has for me!

  • Not seeing you, and your gentic predisposition to store fat,  Its hard to say.
Some people lose fat in the face first, and for some, it could be the last place they lose it.  So it depends on genetics and your current bodyfat percentage.

Studies show that for significant weight loss,  a minimum of 4 days a week 30 min/day is needed exercising at a moderate pace, jogging for examnple.

If you are in a time crunch try 5-6 days,  and turn up the intensity a bit,  or exercise a bit longer on those days.

    Good Luck!

    Ditto.
  • I feel your pain. I just had my engagement photos done, and I told my fabulous photographer that she needed to tell me if I was posing in a way that made me look fat, especially in the chin department!

She was great about reminding me to stick my chin out, then down, etc. and my photos were great! (Unlike the last set of photos that I had taken of me.. lol).

Just be honest with your photographer that you're worried about that, and they should be able to make sure that you're posing in the most flattering way!
