Call Me Crazy

So I did the Jillian Michaels for beginners dvds, frontside and backside and I loved it.  So much so that I went out and bought like almost all of her dvds!  I know, crazy right!  I figured I could do cardio first, like a bike, treadmill, or the eliptical, then move on to a workout dvd to help my muscles and all those hard to reach areas.  I've decided that I'll buy the Insanity workout and/or the Bridal Bootcamp dvds later on, because right now I'm totally in love with the Jillian Michaels dvds and I know its all about finding something you enjoy.

I think I'm so worried about losing weight and not toning up where I'm going to have all this extra skin.  Has anyone else feared this?  Has anyone conquered this?  What did you do?  Any advice would be great!!

Thanks ladies!!

<div>If you lose the weight at a normal pace (1-2 pounds <em>max</em> per week for healthy, sustained weight loss), and you're not losing a whole big bunch of it (multiple hundred pounds), this shouldn't be a problem.  Weight loss TV shows have everyone scared about needing surgery to remove excess skin after losing weight, but keep in mind those are drastic cases of 100s of pounds of rapid weight loss, usually lost following surgery of some sort.</div>
  • Unless you're going on biggest loser or extreme weightloss whatever on tv, that's really not a risk.  Don't worry.

  • Even when I lost weight rapidly (90 lbs in 7 months) "extra skin" didn't happen for me. Of course weightlifting will help keep you toned overall and is a good idea - definitely no need to worry about it though.

  • It's more effective to do weights before cardio, if doing them back to back. :)

</div><div>I have heard this, so I'm def going to do weights first.  I figured my workout routine will consist of cardio, weights, and a workout dvd.  Like day one I'll day do cardio and weights (I actually have a dvd that uses weights), then day two cardio, day three, a dvd...something to that effect, but also mix yoga in there so that I can get a good stretch of my muscles in at least once a week.

  • I own all of Jillians DVDs including her newest program body revolution which is 15 DVDs and a 90day program. I find her DVDs very very effective. I didn't loose a ton of weight so loose skin was not an issue for me, keep in mind genetics play a role in that. Stay hydrated and lift weights and make sure to take a rest day it's important too :)

Really? I thought I had heard it the other way around (though maybe I'm thinking of what Jillian says on 30 Day Shred, but that's probably different since it's circuit training and not two types of workouts back to back).

  • Even on 30 Day Shred she does strength training, THEN cardio, then abs, every circuit.
