Getting in Shape

newbie / just got engaged

Hi everyone :)

i just got into the website and i'm already checking in. I have between 5 to 8 months to lose 13lbs to get in the shape of my dreams; as i'm setting up the wedding as a motivation.
i already lost 30extra lbs and now i've been stuck. So i guess i need some help. I'm 5'9 and my current weight is 170. Anyone got ideas?

*anyone can feel free to add me.

  • Congrats!

5 to 8 months is PLENTY of time to get into shape.  If you don't already, start weight training right away.  My friend did it before her wedding.  She didn't change her diet, just started weight training.  She didn't "lose" any weight, but everyone thought she did and she had the shape/fit she was looking for.

Muscle takes up less space than fat, helps to contour your body, and causes you to automatically burn more calories even when you're not working out.  Don't be afraid to get on the machines the guys use.   Doing more reps at a lower weight will elongate your body (don't worry, you won't bulk up).

If you don't want to use the machines / can't afford to join a gym, pilates is a really great way to build long, lean muscle.  There are probably DVDs you can check out at your local library, or rent from the closest video rental place.

Good luck.  Keep us posted on your progress!  Smile

  • Thaanks! :D

i know it's plenty of time to lose weight, but there are about 3 months that i'm not seeing results. I feel like i'm stuck. Took me 2 years and a half to lose 30lbs. So yes, i've been in this process for some time now.

i right now, i'm travelling and i don't have time, but in a month i'll be back to US and i'll be able to go back to Gym. i stay about a hour, 3 times per week. and yes, i do lift weight.

Now i'm just working on not letting my family make me fat. It's been working. And i'm looking for supplements as well. haven't decided on it though.
  • What do you mean by supplements?

Everything the light touches is my kingdom.
  • fat burners/ thermogenics and stuff like that.
  • If you're looking to only drop 13lbs, it's probably more of a toning thing than a weight thing...try vinyasa yoga, it's great if you're traveling because all you need is a towel on the floor of your hotel room. If you go to the itunes store and search the podcasts, you can find a ton of yoga classes to download for free. It will tone you like crazy (especially your arms/shoulders/back, which is great for a wedding dress) and it helps out with stress relief/relaxing. Congrats and good luck!!
  • thanks! i'll look for it :)
