Do you drink tea?

I like tea but rarely make it at home.  I found a bunch of holiday Celestial Seasonings tea for a great price yesterday but was wondering what you look for in a tea.  Which is healthier/more beneficial?  Is it still green tea is the best? Obviously, tea that doesn't need a bunch of sugar and additives is probably better for you..  Anyone a tea guru and care to share your tea knowledge? Preferred tea?  Is there anything amazing that I should try?  I usually stick to English breakfast tea.

Re: Do you drink tea?

  • I'm not a tea person but I am a health nut. Green and white teas are both very healthy, and black tea isn't bad for you either (it also contains antioxidants). Looseleaf is always better than bagged tea, which to me tastes like cardboard (which is probably why I don't characterize myself as a tea person, since I've mostly been drinking tea from bags my entire life). I  personally enjoy unsweetened spiced teas with a bit of cream or coconut milk.
  • I agree with unchatenfrance regarding the different teas and agree that loose leaf is better for you AND tastes better.
I personally LOVE the Aveda tea. If you are looking for a tea that is naturally sweet with no garbage in it like most store bought teas are, try this one. They usually have samples in the store in malls. Seriously, AmAZING and great for you.

I don't look for  anything specific, honestly. Just whatever I think I will like that doesn't have any artificial or even "natural flavors" because that's far too vague for my comfort.
  • I'll have to try that Aveda.  My health/organic market has a huge selection of loose leaf tea and i have to say that it intimidates me.  I do like sweeter tea since I hate the idea of having to add sugar to things to make them palatable.  Now I have a place to start!  Thanks.
  • I am no tea guru, but I love Celestial Seasonings Bengal Spice tea. I actually hate regular tea though.. this is the right amount of sweet and spicy without adding anything at all.. It's perfect in my opinion! :)

  • I love Celestial Seasonings Bengal Spice too! It's divine with a splash of coconut milk :-D
  • I'm new to the tea thing as well, Anna. In fact, I have a cuppa cinnamon spiced chai on my desk now.

My favourite tea so far is from David's Teas. It's called "Organic the Skinny" and is a digestive tea. I've been adding one sweetener, but am starting to find it too sweet. I'm weaning myself off.

Pepsi is still my vice, but I'm going to aim for at least one tea a day, then up it to two. I never drink enough liquids anyway, which I figure is hindering my weight loss, so it's an unofficial part of my challenge!
