Getting in Shape

Getting back on the right track

Last week I had a post about gaining almost 5 lbs!  I got such sweet suport from people on this board.  So I thought I'd let you all know that I lost over 3 lbs this week!  So I'm getting back to the right track.  I could have probably lost all 5 lbs but we had a going away party, and a birthday party so I ate a bit more. But you know I'm happy that I could enjoy those two parties in Moderation, and still lose 3 lbs.  Really shows that I am working twards making this a life change.

Thanks for all the suport gals!

  • Congrats! I love when I catch a glimpse of how my healthier lifestyle will begin to feel normal and better integrated with my social life! It still feels like a struggle right now, one that I have to be mindful of at all times, but it is slowly getting easier :)

It does suck especially if you are friends with people with high motabolisms, or friends who's job keeps them on their feet all day and you sit, they can eat anything they want and keep their weight down, and we have to watch it.  but it is nice when you can figure out how to eat it but not go over board.

It's a big struggle, but I think eventually we will figure everything out and realize how much better we feel when we are healthy.

    Good luck!

Wow, how do people lose 3+ pounds in a week?  I have to eat a certain amount of calories to fuel my workouts, and my livestrong.com calorie tracker said that I'd have to cut down to 913 calories a day to lose just 2 pounds a week.  There's no way I'd go under 1200 calories a day, especially with 3-5 intense workouts a week.  3500 calories = one pound.  3500 calories x 3 pounds / seven days = 1500.  That's cutting 1500 calories per day.  My normal eating routine is about 2000 calories a day and right now I'm cutting down to 1200.  I work out year round.

I tend to loose weight light a man, I am on WW and I stay with-in my points for the day and week, I almost always go over on my Points Plus allowance every day and have to dig into my weekly allowance.  I work out 5 days a week for 45 minutes a day, and go on at least 2 hour and half workouts.  I do not add in any of my activity points because people tend to over estimate their exhersion by 30% so this way I am not adding in extra points plus for my activity.

It also depends on how much a person weighs and what not.  Actually last week I gained almost 5lbs.  and I sure did not over do it by 5 lbs.  there are lots of factors in the amount of weight people loose.

  • Congrats on getting back on track!

I'm new on this board but I try to eat at least 1500 a day, run for 20 minutes, and walk fast for an hour on an incline.  It's paid off.  6 lbs in 2 weeks
  • Congradulations!

It is always so encouraging to hear how good it is when we put the hard work in!

Keep it up... and thanks for the good news post!

Way to go!  It's nice when you can eat prety normal and still loose weight!  That will hopefully make it easier for us to keep off the weight!

    Keep going!

Actually, the food level isn't normal for me at all.  i had to add nearly 600 calories.  I wasn't eating enough previously and it had shut down my metabolism.

That can happen.  Sometimes we have the missconception that loosing weight means you have to eat like a bird.  Some people also think that if you eat less than your recommened calories you will loose faster, but that's not true.  WW will always tell people to eat all of their points plus values.
