Getting in Shape While Traveling

Hey ladies--
Need some help. Is anyone else traveling while wedding planning and staying up with an exercise routine? I travel 4 nights a week for my job and am having a hard time sticking with a healthy eating/exercise routine. Any suggestions would be fabulous. I am trying to make sure that I finish eating dinner by 7pm so I can work out a 8, but doesn't always work out that way since I stay at a different hotel every night :(

  • Since you're having trouble getting your workout in at night, maybe you could try doing it in the morning instead.

I don't know enough about your schedule to know if that's feasible, but I much prefer to get my workout in first thing; that way I'm not worrying about it for the rest of the day. Sometimes it really, truly sucks getting up a few hours earlier to do it, but afterwards I'm always glad that I did.  Well, almost always.
  • I am going to start traveling myself and have been concerned about this as well.  I am planning on trying to shop for healthier snacks/meals and utilize hotels that have a fridge to store stuff... or invest in a cooler of some sort.   Pre-packing snacks by putting them into baggies will help with portion control!  As for meals... sticking to salads and asking for specifically prepared food so I know it is healthier... along with eating at restaurants that provide healthy options.

As for working out... I am going to try the morning routine but try getting a workout in whenever I can if I don't make the morning.  I am also thinking about bringing DVDs with me that I can play on my computer... ones that use limited equipment for the workout and hope that I am on the first floor of the hotel too! :)
  • If you have a laptop you can bring dvds or download videos.  Also, a lot of hotels have  gyms or pools.  I think the only solution is to just do it.  When you get into the hotel, if you don't have a meeting or whatever, start working out.  Make the time.
