Opinions?

Alright, so the future Mother In Law suggest the hgc Diet.
Has anyone on here tried it?

Re: Opinions?

  • Tell her no-way-jose! That is a b.a.d. idea!

It's really an unsafe diet... Dropping your calories to 500 per day and then taking mysterious drops is a recipe for disaster. It is true that you may lose a bunch of weight, but as with most fad diets you will gain it all back (and possibly more) when you stop the drops and return to normal eating.

Also, adding hormones to my body just seems dangerous, who knows what kind of effects that might have on your body later in life.

We are strong advocates of healthy eating and exercise on this board, and I really recommend going on a site like My Fitness Pal or SparkPeople to track your calories!

    Good luck OP!

  • Ditto and Ditto! Just because something "works" doesn't mean it is good for you! Please don;t do that to your body, it could spell trouble for the future you or even your children. Put good things in your body and you will get good out!

If you really want a "diet" try the Paelo diet!

  • That is so unhealthy.
Do it the right way, eat better and workout.

    Sarah, I LOVE that picture!

  • It's bogus. Do a thread search on here for "HCG" and you will see a lot of dialogue about it.

I've seen a couple of people throw their money away on it and both lost a lot of weight. A few months later I see them and both are heavier than they were before, with thinner hair and terrible skin.

  • Annnnnd Majority rules!
    lol.
Thank you guys. I just wanted to get some honest opinions, see what everyone thought.
I really don't know anything about it, someone suggested it to her, and she suggested it to me.
I want to lose weight, the right way, I just need some motivation, and something I really know is going to work. I love food way to much for counting my calories to make a difference. I think about it all the time just how many I consume, but my mind doesn't care if my tummy is happy!
I have had the mfp app before, and for a while now, I'm just really bad at it.

  • @blueikaos - Thank you so much! We love it too :)

@heather - I totally understand the way you are feeling. I felt that way too. I was convincing myself "I am a food addict. I cannot stop eating what I like! I'll just exercise more!" BUT - the reality is that weight loss is about 80% diet and 20% exercise. Both are important, but what you put into that body is what you're going to get out of it. Remember the saying "you are what you eat"? It's kinda true.

I like Kwith's suggestion of setting your MFP for lower weight loss goals so that you can get in the habit of logging your food without feeling super restricted. Losing 1/2 pound a week is better than gaining or maintaining. If that still feels too rough, set it to maintenance. See what you should be eating daily to stay at the weight you currently are. Then when you go over, you're going to know you can expect the scale to go up and you'll have in the back of your mind that you made a conscious decision to gain weight by over-eating. These are things that I know would work for me for some motivation!

I have to tell you, I really don't feel restricted at all. You get used to eating the right amount for your body, and you CAN feel full and satisfied eating less than you do now. It's just gotta be the right stuff!

I hope that you can find something that works for you! Good luck in your weight loss journey, and I commend you for wanting to do things the right way! :)

  • So I worked out last night! Yay me :)
It's kind of exciting, but so so so painful at the same time. I ate a light dinner and drank only water. It's a start, but I'm hoping to stay strong enough to keep this up!
