30 lbs still to go...ugh...

Any suggestions for a busy chaotic schedule? I think I eat pretty healthy, just not much time to work out. no gym membership, budget.

Try tracking your food intake like WW or MFP. You would be surprised how much results you could have just by following a plan like that.

  • Start with something small

    Beachbody's 10 minute trainers
Jillian Michael's workout are around 20 minutes
Jackie Warner Time Saver X is 30 minutes

Try to work in some cardio

Track you eating to see how much you are actually consuming. We may think we are only eating a little but the reality is much higher.

<div>If you just think you eat healthy, you're doing it wrong.  KNOW what you eat.  What you eat if far more important than a gym membership.</div><div>

  • I don't know what your home/work/daily space looks like, but a couple of things I've done in the past when there's no time to workout:

-Ban elevators from your life--I did this when I was doing production on a cruise ship for two weeks.  All of that free food and no time to work out was dangerous , but with 18 decks on the ship, I was climbing a lot of stairs!
-Park in the furtherst row away from wherever you're going, mall, grocery store, work, ect.
-Don't allow yourself to shower unless you've had a 12 minute workout.  (The first 12 minutes of cardio is the most optimum fat burning period, per Covert Bailey and you can check out his book, The New Fit or Fat, an oldie but goodie for understanding how activity affects our metabolism and a good motivator!)

Good luck, you can do it!

  • I didn't have a gym membership for a while (just got one) but when I didn't have one I did....

*Track everything I ate with an Iphone App
    *30 Day Shred w/ Juilian Michael's - 4x a week for 20-40 minutes
*Walked During Lunch Hour (used our garage and walked for 30 minutes a few x's a week)

This helped me shed off about 10 lbs.
  • I will always say that gym memberships are a waste of time and gas, unless you are running or biking there and back. Do you live in a neighborhood (as opposed to on some sort of highway or expressway)? Do you have a park nearby? Walk or jog. Use park benches for step-ups. Do lunges, tricep dips, assisted push-ups, leg switches, jumps, etc.

If you google it, you can find ways to turn a public park or your own neighborhood into an outdoor gym. You'll save money, you'll save time, you'll save gas.

You can use stuff around your own house as dumbells, and do your cardio outside.

(It amazes me that so many people think they need to join a gym.)

Walk around your neighborhood. Dance with your iPod on. Use YouTube to find free videos. Use Netflix Instant View if you have a subscription. Go for a bike ride. It only takes 20-30 minutes per day.

Don't forget to track your food. :) I thought I wasn't eating that much, and I wasn't, but what I DID eat was very high in calories and sodium. My "tiny meals" added up to about 3500 calories per day. Now that I'm tracking what I eat, it's easier to figure out portions and figure out which foods are low-cal and high-cal. I've totally changed the way I eat.
  • I'm with the group - join a free online site like My Fitness Pal and track your food.  Walk everywhere you can - and jog your neighborhood.  EAT CLEAN!  Nourish your body with real food - fruits veggies protein that you cook yourself - don't eat food that comes in cardboard!

  • So I bought this ebook when I was trying to lose weight for my wedding and it gave me a lot of great tips.  I always found if I didnt have a VERY specific plan to follow, I'd go off track.  Just a tip :)
