Getting in Shape

Considering WW

I have been considering for quite a while to join weight watchers, I know of a few people who have been very successful with it. I haven't been to a meeting yet and right now I just feel like I don't know if it will work (I'm sure going to a meeting may change that thought though). For those who are a part of WW what is it that you feel makes the program work?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Considering WW

  • I have been a member of WW for 2 years now. I have lost a total of 55 pounds. I think for me, it worked because I went to the meetings. I love my meeting and my meeting leader. I am almost at my goal but I will continue to go after that.

now, before you worry about the amount of time and the total pounds, I know it would have been faster if I had really done some things differently.  because of my life schedule, I eat out at least 4-5 times a week.  it is possible to lose wtih WW and go out, but it is going to be longer. There are others in my meeting that have lost similar amounts in a much shorter time, 6 months even.

they will tell you that it is an average 1-2 pounds a week, so I don't know your time frame.  I think for long term losing weight and doing it in a healthy way, weight watchers is the way to go!
  • I love that with WW nothing is off limits.  If I want to have a beer, a piece of cake, or some pizza...I can.  I don't feel restricted at all.

I also think that it puts things in perspective for me.  FI wanted to go to dairy queen to get ice cream, and after I looked up the points for a blizzard it just wasn't worth it to me.  I ended up having some angel food cake instead for a treat and was happy with myself.
