Workout Accountability: Monday

Morning ladies, and happy Monday!

Weekend went well - not the best food choices but kept the calories within limit, so no major setbacks.  I'm looking forward to a bit of healthier food this week, but we're in 'use up everything in the fridge' mode before we go now.
Speaking of which - anyone have any good ideas for tomato sauce (yes, I know it'll be loaded with sodium) and chicken breasts for tonight?

We're also on our very last week of p90x workouts.  Next week is the recovery week, where there are still rough workouts, but it's still not as intense as the regular weeks.

How is everyone doing, and how was everyone's weekend?  Have a great day!

Re: Workout Accountability: Monday

  • The weekend was pretty good.  Went to the Cheesecake Factory Saturday so I spent a lot of time at the gym that day too.  It balanced my calories pretty well.  Yesterday I went to a shower for a friend and my eating was actualy worse yesterday.  I need to get back on the horse today.  Happy Monday!

  • Morning!

Lobsters, have you considered making a chicken cacciatore?

also...holy crap you are getting so close! How are you managing? I am fully expecting to be a basket case by that stage of the game!

this weekend, was ok. I made the most delicious homemade GF peanut butter cookies for my boss but I ate a few of them...you know to make sure they were good...trust me they were.
looking forward to spin class tonight.

  • Souptin - that could be a possibility.  I'm thinking I might just throw it on some whole wheat pasta for FI and eat just chicken with some sauce for me (since I'm having a bagel for lunch today.)

And, yes, things are getting crazy!  I have so many to-do lists, that it's nuts.  Thankfully the workout schedule and a busy work week are keeping me somewhat distracted.

  • Lobsters I'm starting to get super overwhelmed so I can't even imagine how you feel! Getting so close!

This weekend I did really well with eating and working out. Saturday I went to spin at my new gym, I didn't really love the bikes there, they are really old but whatever. Yesterday I went and practiced my spin routine for my instruction class, between moving and wedding I've had really no time to practice it so I'm nervous since I meet with the woman tonight. I took this morning off from working out and my doggy got sick :( Poor thing, hope she starts feeling better. And my eye is twiching again ah! All in all today is just shaping up to be crappy.

  • Morning ladies!  Today officially starts my month of vacation from my job, so I'm looking forward to using this time get some extra workouts in!

This weekend seems like it was pretty much a wash for me.  I ran my first 10k on Saturday and was VERY excited about that (finished in an hour, woo hoo!).  Also did some weight lifting which I've been pretty remiss at lately.  However I then went to a graduation party and probably made up for any calorie burns by eating cake.

My legs were pretty tired on Sunday, so I did a 3 mile run to get some of the tiredness out.  I also played an hour of beach volleyball and took a mile walk with my sister in the evening.  Dinner was at Olive Garden, but I limited myself to a breadstick, bowl of soup, and half of a grilled chicken entre.  Probably still not the lightest dinner, but decent for a night out.

Today's plans include a 4 mile run.  Also, since I'm a Clevelander, Monday's are "Move-It" days which means I get to walk around the track of the baseball field where the Indians play (fun) for a mile or so.  Then hopefully a bit of weight training.  Hopefully it'll be a good day for everyone!
  • Good morning!

I am exhausted this morning. We got home from Detroit at 12:30 last night and I didn't get to bed till 2am. Had to to be at work at 8:30 this morning which didn't leave much time for sleep.

This weekend wasn't as awful as I worried it would be but it still wasn't great. Friday and Saturday I didn't get any heavy cardio in, didn't even get my 10,000 steps per day (only got 6 or 7,000 per day). Food was so-so.

Yesterday was my wedding shower - my sister was in town for it and we went to the gym early in the morning together, so I got 30 minutes on the elliptical, 20 minutes on a treadmill and then I half-assed some weightlifting. I was under my calories by a lot yesterday, but the calories I did eat definitely weren't "quality" calories.

Tonight wouldn't usually be a gym night for me, but I think I'm going to go to body combat to get some cardio and help work off the sweets I ate yesterday.

  • Lobsters- I feel you on the "to-do lists", I feel like I have 50 of them and they just keep getting longer the closer we get to the 25th!

This weekend was a total bust, I had a flu/sinus thing so I was in bed literally all weekend. I did lose weight, but only because I didn't eat anything other than soup :( So, no working out for me.

Tonight is my final fitting before the big day, so hopefully it all works out!! This week is going to be craaazy with finalizing everything. I'm hoping to have some energy back tomorrow so I can atleast get some walking in. Thankfully, this sickness will be out of my system in the next few days and hopefully it means I'm in the clear for the wedding!
  • @Maribeth: Are you training to be a Spin instructor? That's so cool!
@Choagie: Congrats on running a 10K! Was it in a race? I have my first 10K on the 1st of September!

Well ladies, I have to say I am feeling pretty good right now...I slacked off and didn't workout yesterday so I decided to do P90X Plyo (I'm not following the rountine...just felt like a good ass kicking.) I haven't done it in probably 6 months...and I could tell a huge difference today in my abilities! I finished the whole workout and did all the moves and everything...its just really cool to see how my body has changed and grown...which is something I think we often forget about when we focus on inches or pounds.

So today is a good day!
  • @ Lobsters - you could have a grilled chicken parmigiana? That's what I eat when I have chicken breast and tomato sauce to use up. But the cheese does add a couple calories... :) and a lot of delicious!

    Morning everyone!

The weekend was better than usual for me! On Saturday FI went golfing with his dad, so I went for a run/hike. I went on a set of trails in town that I hadn't been on before, and ran a total of 6km and hiked the other 2.2km for a total of 8.2km! It was pretty good exercise, and nice and hilly and beautiful scenery! Except for being attacked by a dog, freaked out by a creepy man that looked like a killer, and being bitten by about 70 mosquitos, lol! Yesterday FFIL, FI and I went golfing again so I got some exercise that way, even though we used carts.

Food was good on Saturday, not so much on Sunday. FFIL cooked me a smokie before we went golfing, so I ate it with no bun to save on the unnecessary calories - and then at the 5th hole FI bought me a hot dog! I was like WTH you two?! But I scarfed it down none-the-less, and it was delicious, haha! THEN we had steak sandwiches for dinner at the course 3 and half hours later, but that was fine. Had a few french fries, but mostly just steak and steamed veggies.

Tonight after work I'm hoping to do part of the same trails I did on Saturday, but this time with FI!

    Have a good day everyone!

  • Had a nice relaxing weekend for a change.   We were so busy leading up to the wedding it was nice to not have anything planned for the weekend.

We have put together a meal plan for the week and H is starting to work on it for next week.   Hopefully this keeps us on track leading up to the honeymoon.

  • Hello Everyone! I am hoping that this week goes better than the end of last week workout and eating wise. I struggled with going out of town and traveling. Hopefully I will be able to start back my workout and be a little more consistent this week now that everyone is moved in and settled here at school. Have a great rest of your Monday everyone!

    Hey ladies!

Lobsters: have you tried eating grilled chicken (Montreal seasoning is my fave) with zucchini fries and you sprinkle both with Parmesan cheese and dip in tomato sauce?  I love the baked zucchini fries and they are super easy :)

This weekend was crazy! Was in my hometown having to see everyone and the calories went out the window but I tried to be portion conscious.... we are also in the "everything in the fridge needs to be eaten" so its hard sometimes getting creative.  Tonight is a workout and I need to do some damage control from this weekend.

Question: If I have 4 free personal training sessions with my gym, what should I make sure they tell me??  I don't plan to continue with a PT after the 4 sessions so I want more education than routines.  I plan on asking her to show me how to use all the weight equipment but anything else?
  • helleb - thanks for the dinner rec!  As for PT, I would suggest (along with what kw said-especially the bit about form) the order to do workouts in (usually they'll suggest larger muscle groups to smaller), how often to do weights per week, how often to switch up routine, how/what to eat before and after weight days, and to show you some additional machines you could add in the future.

@helleb - I personally love free weights more than I like working out on the machines at the gym. I think you get a better work out from them, they involve balance, more muscle control, etc, etc. So I would ask the instructor to show you a variety of exercises to show you what your form should be like and even to figure out what weight you should be starting off at. When I started lifting weights I wasn't using nearly enough weight. With that said, my own personal opinion is I didn't really want the trainer beyond a couple of sessions just to show me how to do some things. I ended purchasing sessions with mine after the free one and I regretted it. It was really expensive, a huge waste of money. And I preferred to work out on my own.

  • @AndreaCata   Wasn't in a race this time, just a rainy saturday run where i felt pretty good so decided to go a little longer than usual.  I've been toying with the idea of entering a 10k race.  Good for you for actually being brave enough to sign up for one!!  Best of luck and let us all know how you do!!
  • @helleb: I agree with PP...especially Maribeth...while its good to switch things up and change (free weights one week, machines the next etc.) I think its pretty easy to figure out the machines on your own. For me what really helped when I had training sessions was when we did functional training...we did a bunch of free weights, used and cable machines and did a whole bunch of stuff I never would have thought of (or would have been too embarressed to try) on my own! So there is my opinion

@choagie: You should totally enter a race!! Especially if you did the 10K in an hour! That is a good time! Its great motivation and its fun to be around other runners!!
  • Hey all! This weekend wasn't too bad. Didn't get around to exercise due to traveling for a friend's wedding but was glad to have shared a piece of cake with the FI instead of gorging on a whole slice of my own!

Today I started hot yoga and though it kicked my tush, I feel great about it!
