3 months and 20 days and 30lbs to go! HELP!

I have just over 3 months and would love to lose about 30lbs. I eat right i just don't exercise as much as i should. I'm so tired after work and just have no motivation. Any advice?

Re: 3 months and 20 days and 30lbs to go! HELP!

  • If you eat right, the weight should be already coming off.

What's your diet look like?  How many calories per day vs calories burned?
  • my issue is that i don't have energy to exercise. i only eat 1600 calories a day. is there anything i can do to boost energy after work?
  • Do you have time to exercise before work?  If not try bringing your workout stuff to work and change when you are done so you don't have to go home.  Most days this helps me and I think of it as just another item to check off my list.
  • I would look at what you're eating - making sure that you are eating whole foods - not food that comes in a box makes a real difference.  Someone on one of the threads mentioned that weight loss is about 80% diet and 20% exercise and I woud have to agree.  In most of my work outs, I'm only burning 300-500 calories - it's not really going to make it or break it for me.

If you wouldn;t mind sharing what your daily meal plan is, making we can help a little more?

  • I have your answer pick up a copy of "The 4-hour Body" by Timothy Ferriss.

That book has changed my life. I'm down 30lbs since March and I feel amazing. His program is VERY easy to follow and does not require a large amount of exercise. It's based on metabolism and also a low-carb diet with one cheat day a week. It's about 80 percent based on diet and 20 percent everything else.  Check out the information about the book on Amazon and order it!  Amazing results for me and I've only got about 13lbs to go!

<div>I first saw him on Dr. Oz and did a little digging and he's all over the internet. He also has a book called the The Four Hour Work Week which came out before the 4-hour Body book.  FYI: Green Tea extract is a supplement that is used as part of the dietary regimen.  Great info in the book and worth every penny of the $10-$12 on Amazon 100 times over. Seriously, you will thank me later.</div>

  • Look into low-carb. Some good books are The Paleo Diet and The Primal Blueprint. Also, the author of TPB has a website called marksdailyapple.com

  • There is so much crazy in this thread, I don't even know where to start.

You don't need fancy diets or books or supplements.  CARDIO is not the only way to lose weight.  If you're truly eating right, you should be losing weight. Be honest with yourself about your eating.  If you're really, truly eating right not losing, you should see a doctor, because that's not normal.

  • Also, healthy sustainable weight loss is about 1-2 pounds a week unless you're pretty severly overweight.  I would not count on hitting your 30 pounds by your wedding. It's not a healthy, realistic goal, unfortunately.  Also, you need to figure that you'll need to stop losing after your dress gets fitted, so don't forget about that.

<div>She has almost 4 months to lose 30lbs, do the math. It's very realistic and doable.</div><div>
</div><div>Also what works for some may not work for others. Women's bodies and metabolisms vary by individual. For example, if I were to have a diet that most consisted of whole grains and fruits, I would (and have) gain weight. That's fact. I have to limit those things to my "cheat days" while I'm in weight loss mode. For maintenance, I can add more of those items in to balance out, but for now, those things do nothing to generate weight loss for me personally. I have a girlfriend who has lost 60lbs since January and she includes a lot of fruits and whole grains in her diet and does lots of zumba and works out at the gym.  Spending a lot of time in the gym doesn't do much for me, I took up running and have done 4 5Ks this year, I run about 3 times a week and also do some hiking once a week. </div><div>
</div><div>It's also important to get your labs/bloodwork done and check in with your doctor. Do your research and discuss with your doctor. I did this before changing my eating habits and lifestyle. and last week, I did my 90-day check in. All of my levels for blood sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure were all within normal range. I was pre-hypertension 3 months ago. Borderline high on the other two. </div><div>

  • No, she DOESN'T have almost 4 months to lose 30 lbs.  She'll need to stop after her second fitting for sure, if not her first fitting.  So if we call it 3 months, that's 13 weeks, and 2 lbs a week (which is on the high end, and not terribly realistic for most people) is 26 pounds.  It's POSSIBLE for her to hit 30 or at least get close, but for most people, it's not terribly realistic.

  • I hired a personal trainer. I expected to lose 5-8 lbs in 8 weeks but instead dropped 15! My starting weight was 122. Final weight 107. Waist went from 29 inches to 25 inches. I'm 5'4". She had me write down everything I ate. I had thought that I was eating 1600 calories/day. Turns out I was eating 2000+. My diet was reduced to a REAL 1600 calories of good healthy food. I was not allowed to eat chocolate or processed foods I did HIIT with her 3x/week plus 15 minutes of intervals + 15 minutes steady pace on the elliptical 5-6x/week. The first 2 weeks were grueling. After that, I looked forward to my workouts. I feel great. My trainer was surprised how fast I lost weight and toned up. I just stuck to the program. Best $1500 I spent.

  • I am taking Zantrex 3 its helping me gain energy and I have lost 15lbs in 5 weeks. And you don't have to workout while taking them. It helps but it will not hurt you not to. So if you absolutely cant fit it into your busy schedule then you will be ok. but you  have to make sure that you drink lots of water and don't over eat while taking them. I have been working out and eating less while taking them. the average person loses 11lbs/month without exercise or diet while on them.
